昨天，台灣在自由貿易上邁出重要的一步。

我們正式遞交申請加入 #跨太平洋夥伴全面進步協定 (CPTPP)，蔡英文總統表示這反映了我們致力於促進亞太自由貿易的承諾，也相信台灣加入後能夠為區域跟全球帶來經濟發展。

台灣會做好充足的準備，按照自己的節奏與步調，為區域經濟做出具體貢獻。

#Taiwan has officially applied to become a part of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership.

President Tsai Ing-wen tweeted on the move, stating “Taiwan's bid to join the #CPTPP reflects our commitment to promoting free trade in the Asia-Pacific. I am confident that our membership in this deal would strengthen joint economic development & benefit people across the region & the world.”

Taiwan will put the necessary preparations in place so that we can make concrete contributions to the regional economy.

昨日台湾はCPTPPへの加盟を正式に申請しました。蔡英文総統が言うように、台湾は長年にわたってCPTPPのような質の高い自由貿易協定に参加する準備を進めてきました。

台湾は世界貿易機関（WTO）のメンバーの一員として活躍し、ICTや半導体などの産業は世界経済に欠かせない存在となっています。台湾がCPTPPに加盟すれば、アジア太平洋、ひいては世界経済に貢献できます。CPTPP加盟国ともウィンウィンの関係を成り立たせることができると信じています。

定宇稍早接受澳洲歷史最悠久的雪梨晨鋒報（ Sydney Morning Herald)專訪，內容重點摘要：
1. 我們相信澳洲在印太地區應該扮演更重要的角色。

2. 澳英美軍事同盟可以向中國傳遞一個重要的訊號，我們民主國家會站在一起，中國不要錯估自己實力。

3. 中國的錯估將不僅傷害他國，更會造成中國自身的悲劇。

近來美、澳強化安全合作，我們看到這三件事：「美助澳造核潛艦，巡弋可及台灣」、「美澳2+2會談指出強化與台灣關係，關心台海和平穩定」、「澳英美新軍事同盟AUKUS直指對抗中國對南海、台灣威脅」，這些都牽動著印太局勢。

“We believe Australia will play an important role in the Indo-Pacific region,” Wang said.

“This kind of alliance can send a signal towards China’s government that ‘We all stand together, don’t miscalculate your capability’.

“Those kinds of miscalculations will cause tragedy to China itself.“

Ingrained gender roles have taken a heavy toll on previous generations in #Taiwan and the greater Asia region. Many brilliant women were forced out of their careers and had to undertake the lion’s share of childcare duties, while men were denied the opportunity to be the primary care-giver to their children. Things are changing here in Taiwan and the government is trying to make this change easier, allowing both men and women to take up to six months parental leave to care for their child, with subsidies available allowing them to collect around 80% of their salary.

In the recent promotional short, "To Freedom," as part of MOFA’s #UNGA76 campaign, we feature the story of one such young parent, who represents many young men taking advantage of the recent changes to parental leave allowance:

“It’s quite progressive here. My wife and I have the same choices and opportunities. As I wanted to spend time with my child, I took six months parental leave from work and so his first word was “Daddy!” Family and career carry equal importance and require equal strength.”

If the UN states part of its mission as encouraging countries around the world to respect the rights of their people, Taiwan's vision of global partnership can serve as a valuable reference.

There is a town in Singapore that is literally disappearing. I went down before it's gone. The estate is called Tanglin Halt - it's a mature estate near central Singapore full of local, nostalgic sights and great food. For a foreigner like me, it's really interesting to see a neighborhood like Tanglin Halt. It has a local, retro vibe foreigners don't really get to see. Have you ever dreamed of quitting everything to travel around the world?

Sky’s the Limit is the story of Eric’s 1,000-day, 70,000-mile journey, one that is both internal and external—think Eat, Pray, Love meets Bear Grylls. His overland travel is as arduous as it gets and he primarily relies on public transportation—tin-can buses, dilapidated trains, and cargo ships to cross the oceans. His internal journey is equally arduous. Fighting creative insecurities, devastating heartbreak, financial fears, and long stretches of isolation, he repeatedly must dig down deep in order to persevere.

Often driven by intuition and defiant determination, Eric’s adventure pushes him past rocky stretches: a tense, two-day bus ride across a region recently attacked by the terrorist outfit Al Shabaab; a train journey in Europe alongside Syrian refugees Eric is powerless to help; a mixup in Siberia that leaves him stranded in the middle of winter. There are joyful moments as well: swimming with great white sharks in South Africa, falling in love in Australia, a booze cruise through Ha Long Bay, and finding a community of friends in Antarctica. Along the journey, Eric discovers his creativity and also his purpose.

An absorbing, first-hand account of overcoming seemingly impossible obstacles, Sky’s the Limit will inspire readers to dream up thrilling journeys of their own.
