Stop Trying to Flatter God into Blessing you!
“...for there is no injustice with the LORD our God, or partiality, or acceptance of a bribe.”” (2 Chronicles 19:7 AMP)
Why do we praise and worship God? Do you think you need to flatter Him into a better mood so that He will like you more and choose to bless you?
That may be the case for entreating favor with earthly kings, but certainly not with our Heavenly Father.
Think about it: what does your measly praise and worship really add to Him? Doesn’t God already own everything in existence?
What can you give to Him that He didn’t first give to you in the first place except for your sins?
When we praise and worship God, we are the ones who benefit.
All day long when you complain and worry about your problems, aren’t you praising and worshiping your problems?
You’re thinking so highly of them and giving them all your attention—they’ve unknowingly become an idol.
But when you praise and worship God, you’re getting a sense of His greatness and how He’s above all your problems.
Your focus starts shifting to Him. The problems look smaller, and your faith becomes effective.
So you see, you don’t move God when you praise Him—you just move yourself into a state of faith whereby you can receive what He already wants to give to you!
If you’re still not convinced, answer this yourself: when did God start to love you?
“But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8 WEB)
If God loved you while you were still a sinner who didn’t care about Him, then why do you need to convince Him to favor you now that you’re a child of God? He loves you and you are already favored!
Why is God righteous in blessing you with every blessing? It’s because of Jesus’ finished work at the cross that paid the price for every sin you will ever commit, so that you’re now completely righteous before God, through Christ.
No need for crafty tricks to try and manipulate God into blessing you. Freely receive whatever you need—it’s yours to take by faith!
In my new book “Messiah’s Miracles—The Power of Having Faith in Jesus Christ”, I expound on every one of Jesus’ 37 recorded miracles in the four gospels.
Each chapter is designed to ignite your faith and increase expectancy in your heart to receive miracles now.
I believe that as you see Jesus working miracles in the four gospels, unveiling God’s heart of love, goodness and mercy towards man, you will also receive faith to see miracles in every area of your life!
You will also be able to walk in the power of God when you expect to see the supernatural gifts in operation.
Testimonials for the book:
“One of my most trusted teachers has truly written a masterpiece. I can't put this book down.”
- Michael Clark, Highly Sought-After Preacher in USA
“Thank you, Milton for the anointed sharing of the 37 miracles of Jesus. Right from the 1st miracle, God dropped fresh revelations of His heart to me. It wasn't head knowledge that I experienced. I felt His personality, His loving heart's intents towards me. On top of that, there's also revelation of His healing power. Praise Jesus for transforming my heart and bringing me closer to Him through Milton's sharing.”

Takeaways from Proverbs 16
(Day 9 of #ProverbsHesedWisdomChallenge to read a chapter from the Book of Proverbs each day which corresponds to the date as suggested by Pastor Joseph Prince in 7 Jan 2018’s Vision Sunday sermon -
http://www.miltongoh.net/miltons-blog/the-year-of-hesed-wisdom-vision-sunday-new-creation-church-theme-of-the-year-2018 ):
There is no such thing as coincidence. Everything that we say or do is in some way guided by God.
We are either led to do something good, or allowed to do something bad so that we will learn a lesson from the experience.
God is much more in control than we know!
For a believer this is good news! I want to be directed by the Lord as much as possible.
I would rather think His thoughts and speak His words which produce life rather than my own fleshly thoughts and words which lead to death.
“The preparations of the heart belong to man, But the answer of the tongue is from the LORD.
A man’s heart plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.
The heart of the wise teaches his mouth, And adds learning to his lips.
The lot is cast into the lap, But its every decision is from the LORD.” (Proverbs 16:1, 9, 23, 33 NKJV)
When you align the desires of your heart with God’s will, you will get what you want.
“Commit your works to the LORD, And your thoughts will be established.” (Proverbs 16:3 NKJV)
Mercy here is probably “hesed” which means grace.
Grace and truth (although two words but are in the singular tense) refers to the Person of Jesus. It is hinted in this verse that God would provide a means for man to be forgiven of all his sins through Jesus Christ.
In an earlier Bible study we have established that Jesus defined the fear of the Lord as the worship of the Lord.
Praising and worshipping God is a powerful way to allow evil to be broken in your life!
“In mercy and truth Atonement is provided for iniquity; And by the fear of the LORD one departs from evil.” (Proverbs 16:6 NKJV)
Want to live a peaceful life free from enemies? Pray that you’ll always live in a way that’s pleasing to the Lord.
The best method to live this way is not by trying not to do this or do that - it is by beholding Jesus in God’s word and being transformed from glory to glory.
“When a man’s ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
In the light of the king’s face is life, And his favor is like a cloud of the latter rain.”
(Proverbs 16:7, 16:15 NKJV)
This is why the devil keeps attack man because he knows that God loves us and wants to force God to do something unrighteous.
If God does something unrighteous, He would lose His throne.
Thank God for the wisdom of the cross that allowed us to be saved and forgiven in a righteous way!
“It is an abomination for kings to commit wickedness, For a throne is established by righteousness.” (Proverbs 16:12 NKJV)
Trust the Lord that wisdom is truly the most important thing to get and that you will be happy when you have it.
God has already said not to chase material riches, so focus on wisdom instead!
“How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.
He who heeds the word wisely will find good, And whoever trusts in the LORD, happy is he.” (Proverbs 16:16, 20 NKJV)
Sin is a detour that slows you down from progressing in life.
Want to get ahead in life sooner? Then know the importance of not being distracted by sin.
“The highway of the upright is to depart from evil; He who keeps his way preserves his soul.” (Proverbs 16:17 NKJV)
This is the power of words. What words are more pleasant than the words of grace in God’s word?
Speak them and receive happiness and health!
“Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.” (Proverbs 16:24 NKJV)
Pray and keep feeding on God’s wisdom to gain self-control over your emotions.
A person who can do this has received great wisdom from the Lord.
“He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.” (Proverbs 16:32 NKJV)
