Vice President Chen Chien-jen says Taiwan is working on a vaccine, but that it will be at least a year before it clears clinical trials. He says a potential treatment could be ready for mass production within six months. Taiwan researchers are also developing a screening test that gets results in just 15 minutes. Vice President Chen says the government wants the test ready for market in three months.

新華社批陳建仁造謠 總統府回應「罵街式口水」

A war of words erupted between Vice President Chen Chien-jen and China's state-run news agency Xinhua. In a Facebook post, Chen accused Beijing's leaders of failing to publicize vital information about the true state of the COVID-19 outbreak in China. Xinhua hit back over the weekend, slamming Chen for being a rumormonger and a sham who was pretending to be an expert when he wasn't. Then the Presidential Office entered the fray on Sunday, saying China's angry outburst concealed its own incompetence.

副總統陳建仁日前在臉書指出，中國疫情資料資訊不公開令人遺憾，引來中國官媒新華社不滿，撰文砲轟「陳建仁披專業外衣公然造謠」，但是文章卻不敢署名，總統府昨晚反擊說，中方應公布病毒檢驗實況，否則官媒這種罵街式的口水，只凸顯了自己心虛。
