.
This is the face of wildlife crime in Thailand. This is a Criminal, and if justice follows course, this man should serve time for the crime !
.
This man is also one of the most wealthy persons in Thailand, being the President and CEO of a prominent infrastructure construction company.
.
Very little attention has come to this newsworthy event, but at least the man has been charged with wildlife offenses. Let's see what money and power can buy ? Will Law stand fast and protect the endangered Wild ? Or will corruption be fostered and influence pampered ?
.
KANCHANABURI — A construction company mogul and three other men were charged Tuesday with poaching a leopard, panther and other wildlife in a sanctuary.
.
Premchai Karnasuta, the 63-year-old president of Italian-Thai Development and three others were charged with six poaching-related crimes after they were caught 2am on Monday in the Thungyai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary with animal carcasses and hunting weapons.
.
“In that area, camping is prohibited, but we found four tourists so we searched them. We found lots of weapons and wild animal carcasses,” Thammarat Wangsopha, the sanctuary’s director said Tuesday.
.
Authorities found two rifles, a double-barrelled shotgun, various bullets, the body of a Kalij pheasant, a muntiacini deer carcass, a skinned and salted black leopard and a black panther skull in the camp.
.
The four men were sent to the local police station where they were charged with hunting animals in a wildlife sanctuary, which carries a maximum sentence of five years and a fine of 50,000 baht; illegally hunting protected species and possesing caracasses of protected species, punishable by four years in jail and a 40,000 baht fine.
.
They were also charged with weapons-related charges and poaching, punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a 200,000 baht fine.
.
The other three men arrested and charged with Premchai were Yong Doadkrua, 65, Natee Riamsaen, 43, and Thanee Thummat, 56.
.
The sanctuary director said the construction CEO claimed he was the guest of a wildlife official.
.
“Premchai is claiming that he’s the guest of Kanchana Nittaya, the director of the Wildlife Conservation Office,” Thammarat said. “He said he submitted documents asking for permission. But by due process those documents are supposed to be sent to the regional wildlife offices.”
.
Thammarat denied the claim.
.
“I insist that I have not seen any such document,” Thammarat said. “Although police are investigating, we in the National Parks Department will follow this case to the end.”
.
Kanchana, the director of the Wildlife Conservation Office of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation has denied giving permission for Premchai and his friends to hunt.
.
However, she said she received an unidentified phone call on Sunday asking for instructions to apply for a camping permit in Thungyai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary. She told him to contact the regional wildlife office.
.
“He’s not my guest,” Kanchana said. “Camping permission must be granted by the regional office.”
.
“While police have moved slowly on this case, showing the lack of transparency in the area, I’d like to congratulate Thungyai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary officials for arresting Premchai, being unafraid of his influence,” Sasin Chalermlarp, president of the environmental organization Seub Nakhasathien Foundation said Tuesday.
.
“It’s common knowledge that some people believe consuming panthers will lead to increased sexual virility,” Sasin said when asked why Premchai would target those particular animals. “As for the pheasant, that’s wild game hunting.”
.
Sasin believes the panther skin is for decoration.
.
“Of course it will become part of his his collection. If we checked his house, we would probably find the rest of his collection. I’d like authorities to investigate his house and his hunting history, since the panther seems to be skillfully shot and skinned,” Sasin said.
.
Sasin said he estimates that Premchai shot the panther while the other three men skinned it.
.
Another animal rights activist asked for people to apply pressure.
.
“Social media and the media must put pressure on this case, especially since money talks, so that the case can eventually go to court,” Edwin Wiek of Wildlife Friends Foundation said.
.
If the case goes to court, it would already be a “triumph,” Wiek said, because many illegal poaching cases don’t make it that far.
.
Referring to a couple sentenced in 2010 to five years for picking mushrooms in Dong Radaeng Forest, Wiek said expects a “similar or higher sentence” for this case.
.
Illegal poaching by the rich and powerful is common in Thailand, Wiek said.
.
“The police, rich people and government officials do it all the time,” Wiek said. “I think it’s because rich people want to show off to their friends that they have barami [social power], that they can afford to hunt because they have so much money.”
.
Premchai is CEO of Thailand’s largest construction company, Italian-Thai Development. The firm Suvarnabhumi Airport, the BTS Skytrain, MRT subway and other major projects. Italian-Thai Development also has building contracts in Vietnam, India and Taiwan and mines in Laos, Thailand and Africa.
.
Premchai was listed 35th richest in Thailand in 2011 by Forbes before falling off the list in later years.

HISTORY OF PIG FAT
by Dr. M. Amjad Khan
Very important for every Muslim to read this
____________________________
In nearly all the western countries including Europe, the PRIMARY choice for meat is PIG. There are a lot of farms in these countries to breed this animal. In France alone, Pig Farms account for more than 42,000.
PIGS have the highest quantity of FAT in their body than any other animal. But Europeans and Americans try to avoid fats.
Thus, where does the FAT from these PIGS go? All pigs are cut in slaughter houses under the control of the department of food and it was the headache of the department of food to dispose of the fat removed from these pigs.
Formally, it was burnt (about 60 years ago). Then they thought of utilizing it. First, they experimented it in the making of SOAPS and it worked.
Then, a full network was formed and this FAT was chemically processed, packed and marketed, while the other manufacturing companies bought it. In the meantime, all European States made it a rule that every food, medical and personal hygiene product should have the ingredients listed on its cover. So, this ingredient was listed as PIG FAT.
Those who are living in Europe for the past 40 years know about this. But, these products came under a ban by the ISLAMIC COUNTRIES at that time, which resulted in a trade deficit.
Going back in time, if you are somehow related to South East Asia, you might know about the provoking factors of the 1857 CIVIL WAR. At that time, Riffle Bullets were made in Europe and transported to the sub-continent through the sea. It took months to reach there and the gun powder in it was ruined due to the exposure to sea.
Then, they got the idea of coating the bullets with fat, which was PIG FAT. The fat layer had to be scratched by teeth before using them. When the word spread, the soldiers, mostly Muslim and some Vegetarians, refused to fight, which eventually lead to the civil war. The Europeans recognized these facts, and instead of writing PIG FAT, they started writing ANIMAL FAT.
All those living in Europe since 1970's know this fact. When the companies were asked by authorities from the MUSLIM COUNTRIES, what animal fat is it, they were told it was COW and SHEEP FAT. Here again a question raised, if it was COW or SHEEP FAT, still it is HARAAM to MUSLIMS, as these animals were not SLAUGHTERED as per the ISLAMIC LAW.
Thus, they were again banned. Now these multinational companies were again facing a severe drought of money as 75% of their income comes from selling their goods to Muslim Countries, and these earn BILLIONS OF DOLLARS of profit from their exports to the MUSLIM WORLD.
Finally they decided to start a coding language, so that only their Departments of Food Administration should know what they are using, and the common man is left lurking in the dark. Thus, they started E-CODES. These E-INGREDIENTS are present in a majority of products of multinational firms including, but not limited to:
TOOTH PASTE
SHAVING CREAM
CHEWING GUM
CHOCOLATE
SWEETS
BISCUITS
CORN FLASKS
TOFFEES
CANNED FOODS
CANNED FRUITS
Some medication Multi-vitamins since these goods are being used in all MUSLIM COUNTRIES indiscriminately, our society is facing problems like shamelessness, rudeness...
So, request all MUSLIMS or non pork eaters to check the ingredients of the ITEMS of daily use and match it with the following list of E-CODES. If any of the ingredients listed below is found, then DEFINITELY AVOID IT, as it has PIG FAT;
E100, E110, E120, E140, E141, E153, E210, E213, E214, E216, E234, E252, E270, E280, E325, E326, E 327, E334, E335, E336, E337, E422, E430, E431, E432, E433, E434, E435, E436, E440, E470, E471, E472, E473, E474, E475, E476, E477, E478, E481, E482, E483, E491, E492, E493, E494, E495, E542, E570, E572, E621, E631, E635, E904.

▒ Voices of Photography 攝影之聲 ▒
Issue 14 : 謎途 Journey Into Mystery

This issue of VOP pays tribute to artist Chen Shun-Chu.
Born in 1963, Chen’s composite images and photographic installation art pieces, which capture the vivid memories of his family and longing for his ancestral home, are iconic pieces in Taiwanese contemporary art. Chen passed away in 2014 just as his major retrospective exhibition was being held in the Taipei Fine Arts Museum. We interviewed him in 2011, and published the interview in the now out-of-print third issue of VOP. We decided to re-publish the interview in this issue, alongside letters to Chen Shun-Chu from artists Chen Chieh-Jen and Yao Jui-Chung, as well as some drawings, words and musings from his personal notebooks. He once said that art is something that comes from deep in his heart, and we try to imagine the home and family that were always on his mind from his murmurings.
Also in this issue, we introduce artists Akashika Maya, Utagawa Naohiro and Fu Yu, seeking a path through their mysterious images that perhaps even they themselves would find difficult to decipher—Akashika’s eccentric layouts, Utagawa’s frustrated graffiti on his family photos and Fu Yu’s indifferent images of animal remains. In their columns, Chang Shih-Lun analyses the deconstruction and creation of photography through Side Chain, a new film by photographer Chang Chian-Chi; Gu Zheng writes about the life and works of Czech photographer Jan Svoboda in search of the autobiographic images in his photographs; Huang Han-Di brings us back to the 1940s and shows us footprints of Taiwanese photographer Chang Tsai in Shanghai through his pictures. The 6th issue of the bonus zine SHOUT is a soliloquy by teikoukei, one of the new generation of Taiwanese photographers. Through his lenses, we enter yet another mysterious journey and break free of normal points of view.
At the start of 2015, we look back at the publications of 2014. The VOP team has been —gladly—overwhelmed by recommendations from all over the world. We decided to increase the number of pages for this issue and invited 5 photography critics and photobook collectors from 5 different countries to submit a list of their favorite photobook lists of 2014. The panel includes the founder of Indie Photobook Library Larissa Leclair, Director and founder of Asia-Pacific Photobook Archive Daniel Boetker-Smith, Creative Director of Le Bal Books Sebastian Arthur Hau from France, founder of Kassel Photobook Award Dieter Neubert from Germany and renowned critic Akiko Otake. If you, too, love photobooks, then these titles are definitely worth your time.
In “History of Photography in Taiwan” Part V, Hsiao Yong-Seng looks back at the wartime images left by Japanese photographer Kamei Koreaki and his Photography Unit in the army; Q features a special interview with Feng Keli, editor-in-chief for Old Photographs, a publication that has become a valuable archive of photography from the historical perspective of the common people through 18 years of collecting, organizing and publishing photographs sent in by its readers.
As we were busy working on this issue of VOP, we received word that VOP has been banned from import by China customs. In addition, the authorities have also sent the “Integrated Law Enforcement in Cultural Market Team” to VOP retailers in China to remove and confiscate issues of VOP from the stores, especially our recent issue on “Protests, Activism and Images”. This act confirms that the Chinese government is still oppressing freedom of speech and publishing, and also proves that even a small magazine like ours can cause great fear to a totalitarian regime. Although we are concerned about the impact of such a policy on cultural and ideological dialogue, as an independent magazine, VOP will continue on its path and risk being different, rather than dance to the tune of the oppressor. We sincerely thank our readers for your concern and support.
