With the so-called #19nm technology node under development, #CXMT is targeting to ramp up total #DRAM capacity to 60-70K by the end of 2020. Having said that, the key factor is whether its yield rate could see meaningful improvement in the coming quarters.

China in the recent years has been striving for semiconductor self-sufficiency, and the banning of technology exports to ZTE serves to remind the Chinese about the importance of establishing domestic chip production. With respect to memory manufacturing, Innotron (Hefei Chang Xin), JHICC, and YMTC are the three major Chinese semiconductor enterprises that are respectively leading the efforts in developing domestic DRAM and NAND Flash industries. While the three companies have plans to start production in 2019, TrendForce believes they probably will not be able to expand their capacity and output significantly by that time. Since the Chinese entrants in the memory markets are still dealing with many technological challenges, their presence for now mainly affects the number of existing suppliers and the development of future pricing strategies by the established suppliers.
