Ing-wen’s national day speech. Why did President Tsai mention the
Republic of China (ROC) so many times? Why was “One Country, Two

Assistant Secretary for Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands
attended a forum on Taiwan’s role in the Pacific Islands, despite
Solomon Islands and Kiribati recent decision to derecognize the Republic
of China (Taiwan) and to recognize the People’s Republic of China. Also
visiting Taiwan last week were former Canadian prime minister Stephen
Harper and former White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders, and Senator Ted
Cruz (Republican - Texas). Why were these conservative politicians
invited to Taiwan by the liberal Democratic Progressive Party? Why were
Harper and Sanders attending a forum on Taiwan’s relations with
