Anyways, here’s my story about Steampunk Boracay. I passed by this area a lot since it’s located at D’Mall. Honestly, I was a bit worried to dine it because at that night, there were no people inside.

But something was telling me to just go ahead try their food. I spoke to this kind waiter and he was really happy to see me. I asked his advice because I wanted rice. He gave me this. I waited not too long and filmed right away.

I expected the worst. I started eating and right after my first spoon, I told the waiter how surprisingly amazing it was! Surprising because there no people dining in. It deserves more people inside, with all honesty.

This food is one of those “wow factor” moment for me. It was amazing. It was delicious. It was perfect! I left the place really satisfied and happy.

「好きじゃない」「興味がない」の英語表現に磨きをかけよう

これまで多くの日本人の方と接するなかで「〜が好きじゃない」を「I don't like _____.」、「〜に興味がない」を「I'm not interested in ______.」など、学校で教わった表現を忠実に使っている人をよく見てきました。決して間違いではないのですが、実際のネイティブの会話では意味は同じでも様々な言い回しが使われています。また、まるでロボットのようにいつも同じ言い方をしていては、せっかくの素敵なあなたの個性が相手に伝わらないかもしれません。今日は「〜が好きじゃない」と「〜に興味がない」を表す際にネイティブがよく使う言い回しのバリイエーションをご紹介します。

1) I'm not a fan of _____
→「◯◯は好きじゃない」

Fanは「ファン」を意味し、スポーツや俳優などを応援することを指します。日常会話では、Fanを否定形として使うことで「I don't like ___」と同様「〜が好きでない」を意味します。また、スポーツや芸能人に限らず日常に関する一般的なことでも使えます。例えば、FacebookやTwitterなどソーシャルメディアが好きでないと表したい場合は、「I'm not a fan of social media.」と表現します。
　
✔「特に〜が好きというわけでもない」と言いたい場合は big を加え、「I'm not a big fan of _____.」となります。
　
✔Not a (big) fan of ＋ 「名詞」　/　Not a (big) fan of ＋ 「動詞 + ing」
　
＜例文＞
　
I'm not a fan of seafood.
（海鮮料理は好きではありません）
　
I'm not a big fan of online shopping. I'd rather go buy it in person.
（ネットショッピングはあまり好きじゃないですね。直接お店に行って買う方がいいと思います）
　
I'm not a big fan of studying at cafes. I can't concentrate.

2) I'm not crazy about _____
→「◯◯に関心がない」

Crazy aboutは以前に紹介したフレーズですが、ある物事に夢中になって「大好きである」を表すときに使われるフレーズです。否定で使う場合は「大嫌い」ではなく、単にそれに関心がなかったり、興味がなかったり、好きでないことを表します。例えば、ヒップホップの音楽に特に関心がないと伝える場合、「I'm not crazy about hip hop music.」になります。
　
✔「〜にあまり関心がない」と言いたい場合はtooを加え、 「I'm not too crazy about _____.」となります。
　
✔Not (too) crazy about ＋ 「名詞」　/　Not (too) crazy about ＋ 「動詞 + ing」
　
＜例文＞
　
I'm not crazy about karaoke.
（カラオケには興味がありません）
　
I'm not crazy about watching sports.
（スポーツ観戦は関心がありません）
　
I'm not too crazy about Mexican food.

3) I'm not into _____
→「◯◯に興味がない」

趣味や何かに興味があるとき、日常会話ではInterested以外にI'm into ___もよく使われ、否定形の場合も同様です。また、誘いを断るときにも使えるフレーズです。例えば、ダンスに行かないかと誘われたけど興味がないから断る場合は「I'm not into dancing.」になります。
　
✔「〜があまり興味がない」と言いたい場合はreallyを加え、 「I'm not really into _____.」となります。
　
✔Not (really) into ＋ 「名詞」　/　Not (really) into ＋ 「動詞 + ing」
　
＜例文＞
　
I'm not into computer games.
（コンピューターゲームには興味がありません）
　
I'm not really into reading books.
（読書はあまり興味がありません）
　
I'm not into that kind of thing.

Yum Cha in Hong Kong can be very chaotic 🥴 but it is always fun!

We visited Lin Heung Kui in Sheung Wan 上環蓮香居 this time for some old dim sums. How do I rate this Yum Cha experience? I will definitely come back again! Chaotic yet organized, that you can experience rushing to the dim sum lady to get dim sums and at the same time, spend some quality time with family, reading newspaper.

This is my first time to try some of old dim sums that can hardly find in other Chinese restaurants, including Lotus Paste Bun 蓮蓉包，Jumbo Bun (Yes, that’s 大包！大包整多兩籠 唔怕滯～) and my new favourite dim sums - 金錢雞 (Third photo)! It tastes so so so good with chicken liver 雞膶 on top, and then lard 豬膏 and Char Siu (Barbecue Pork) 叉燒, grilled in Barbecue pork sauce. Each of them has a very different texture and the conclusion is - you need to try金錢雞 (literally means coin chicken) when you visit Lin Heung Kui!

Found a bookstore that was opened in Feb this year, in the heart of Orchard Road, Wheelock Place. Where the Borders flagship used to be. If you know what I’m talking about, you’re from my time. I recall the times when I was still in secondary school, hanging at Borders with my friends who love reading, and I will be there checking out the CDs.

Heard that it has a 2 storey space with a cafe and gallery as well. Heard that the ones in China open 24hours, although it’s not happening in SG yet

Zall Bookstore, an outlet with more than 30,000 books mostly in Chinese, also has a cafe and art gallery

“Ms Laura Yan Ge, 24, who is general manager of the Singapore store, said at a media preview on Friday that while the company did not anticipate the coronavirus outbreak erupting amid its expansion, it believes bookstores are especially vital during a pandemic.

‘Because of Covid-19, there is a lot of distance between people nowadays," she said in Mandarin. "We believe books will help to close this gap. They provide food for thought and people can use them to widen their worlds.’”

As a creator myself, I need to constantly find inspiration.

While I can readily find all sorts of information online, sometimes I found my mind being constantly overloaded instead. We read. Socialise. We basically live most parts of our lives in the virtual world, and now we have lesser and lesser reasons to get out there anymore.

So, why a new book store? When was the last time you visited a book store?

Being here made me realised that it’s not about the books. It’s about the space. It’s about the experience. It’s about being here and being present. And what happens when you unplug from the internet and be present in the moment? You’ll get involuntarily intrigued by the surroundings, the people, the architecture, the noise, the beauty of it all. You’ll find headspace. You’ll find your inspiration. You’ll even find a new you.

When was the last time you stepped outside, set aside time just for yourself, and experience life beyond the screen?
