It has been close to two years since we’ve traveled back home to Sabah as a family. I’m so glad we made this extended trip back home for Christmas and New Year as we managed to spend quality time as a family home away from home. The children (Ilon was still in my belly - 4 months old to be exact) had such a terrific time with their Odu and cousin (my sister Michelle-Ann was 5 months pregnant with Kiaen) at the Shangrila Rasa Sayang. Going back through this vlog reminds me again why I should continue vlogging our family trips. The children grow so fast!Thank you Shangrila Rasa Ria for your impeccable hospitality. We can’t wait to come back.Hopefully soon.

I can’t believe it took us almost 2 years to edit this!

So yes! It has been close to two years since we’ve traveled back home to Sabah as a family. I’m so glad we made this extended trip back home for Christmas and New Year as we managed to spend quality time as a family home away from home.

If you were my following my stories last week, you would have seen that we went for a medical check-up at Sunway Medical Centre Velocity, Cheras. So here’s a full video post of my journey throughout the whole medical check-up process with Le Hubs @nash_idrus.

The packages here are tailor-made for people from different ages. Since Nash and I are in the 40 above category, we took the packages that are suitable for us. I did the Women’s Wellness Package worth RM828 and Nash did the Men’s Wellness Package worth RM648. The whole journey was nice and the staffs, nurses and doctors were amazing. They’re such a sweetheart, making us feel comfortable throughout the whole process. Thank you so much @sunwaymedicalvelocity for the warm hospitality!

日本へ行くと、いつも日本人の手厚いおもてなしには関心させられます。「そこまでしてくれるの！？」と思える程のおもてなしを受けると本当に嬉しい気持ちでいっぱいになります。見返りを求めず、心を込めてお客さんを迎え入れてお世話をする「おもてなし」は、アメリカにはない日本独自の伝統的な文化であり、英語に直訳することはできません。しかしアメリカにも、おもてなしの意味に近い表現があるのでご紹介しようと思います。

1) Hospitality
→「おもてなし・接待」
--------------------------------------------------
　
おそらく日本語の「おもてなし」に最も近い表現が“Hospitality”でしょう。直訳すると「接待」を意味し、お客さんや友達など手厚くもてなすこと、またはその心を表します。
　
✔“Hospitality”の前に“Generous（寛大な）”や“Thoughtful（親切な）”を付加えて表現することで、より日本語の「おもてなし」に近いニュアンスになるでしょう。
　
＜例文＞
　
Thank you for your hospitality.
（おもてなしを頂きありがとうございました。）
　
Thank you for your generous hospitality.
（寛大におもてなしを頂きありがとうございました。）
　
Thank you so much for your thoughtful hospitality.
（手厚くおもてなし頂きまして誠にありがとうございました。）

→「大歓迎をする・丁重にもてなす」

直訳すると「赤いじゅうたんを転がす」ということからも想像できるかと思いますが、お客さんや友達が訪れた際に、普段以上に丁重にもてなし盛大に歓迎することを表します。
　
✔「〜を大歓迎する」は「Roll out the red carpet for _____」
　
＜例文＞
　
I will roll out the red carpet when you come to Los Angeles.
（ロサンゼルスに来たら盛大に歓迎するよ！）
　
My parents always roll out the red carpet for their guest.
（私の両親は、いつもお客さんを大歓迎します。）
　
They rolled out the red carpet for him.

When we read about Beyond Expeditions' Back-to-Basics: Woodcraft & Bushcraft Experience, we knew we had to sign ourselves up!

The day started with a short boat ride to Pulau Ubin, an island off eastern Singapore, where we spent a rejuvenating day away from civilisation. We picked up basic bushcraft (wilderness survival skills) from the super knowledgeable Scott, took turns to saw and chop fallen firewood, learnt some woodcraft from the talented Frederick, and made ourselves a scrumptious aglio olio lunch over open fire.

What a day it was, and what a workout too! We had such a good time we frankly didn't even stop to check our phone once.

A big thank you to Beyond Expeditions for the hospitality, and Seek Sophie for organising this experience.

For our year end 2019 holiday , Azmi had planned it in such a way that the kids and I would have the best of ALL -- Riverside (Madsiang) , Mountains & Valleys (Tambunan & Keningau) , City life (Hilton Kota Kinabalu) and Beach &Islands (Vlogs coming soon!)

Thank you Hilton Kota Kinabalu for the wonderful upgrade and for your wonderful hospitality. The children and I had lots of fun exploring the town and getting ample, luxury sleep at the Hilton.

撮影場所は8月にイベント出演で訪れたインドネシアでスタッフさんとロケ地を探して連れて行ってもらったティドゥン島。とても綺麗で、魅力的な島でした。

ライブ中お客さんにも参加してもらったり、イベントスタッフさん達から手拍子の動画を集めて使わせてもらったり…大好きになったインドネシアのみんなと一緒に作った動画です。
