Endowment Fund to IIBF of IIUM
Yesterday, after the Friday prayer, I had witnessed the presentation of the endowment fund worth of AED2.5 million (RM2.8 million) by the Noor Bank in Dubai to Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance (IIBF) of IIUM. It was a great event as this reflected the participation by the private sector in joining hands together with academic institutions to support the noble course of education.
The whole thing started when IIBF team, led by Prof. Dr Faridah (the Deputy Rector) visited UAE and presented the idea of endowment fund to a few financial institutions a few months ago. Noor Bank has responded positively. Congratulations to everyone for this great job. Keep doing this far-reaching initiative in the near and far future.
In the evening, we have put a special dinner to Dr Adnan Aziz (the Head of Shariah, Noor Bank) and his wife. I had the privilage to be with everyone. Apart from social talk, we have had some industry talk which is always refreshing.
I have had known Dr Adnan Aziz since 2006 while working as Shariah board member of Dar al-Istithmar in London. He was then the Head of Product Structuring. I have also joined the Shariah board of Noor Bank since 2007 since its inception.
In life, we just need to learn new thing every single day. Also, we just need to contribute back every single day. If we do this, we can make the world in our favour.
