CANAL SURFING through Venice. I took a solo trip to Venice after a trip with @arigateujp to Bologna back in October. It was my first time there! My friends kept telling me to skip it to avoid the tourists as well as the tourist traps. But after watching @phil.rosenthal’s Somebody Feed Phil Venice episode, Phil made a good point that tourist attractions are attractions for a reason and I had to go! Immediately after the outbreak of COVID-19, I read articles about how the water in the canals cleared up and wildlife returned to the floating city! I can only imagine what Venice must look like now. Happy that I went - thanks Phil! #TripsChangeUs @ Venice, Italy

That one time we drove along the Amalfi Coast stopping at every town along the way. Our first pit stop was Positano, where we grabbed gelato and açaí bowls. We walked through the narrow streets, between the colorful buildings, and along the pebbled beach.

When the Philippines imposed their travel restrictions on Hong Kong in February , I found myself with my son unable to leave the surfer paradise of Siargao Island, where we had planned to visit for only a few days.

As those few days extended into nearly a month, I found the experience brought out a side of me seldom seen in the working environment of Hong Kong. My adventurous side kicked into gear as my son and I learned to surf, climb coconut trees, ride bamboo rafts, dive in caves and lagoons, and motorcycle together around the island.

During the long stay with my little man we rarely saw any tourist kids on this island so I had to take on the role of my son’s play buddy. While life was basic and some parts of it uncomfortable, living this as mama bear also opened me up to another side of life, one not always seen in Hong Kong where most things are taken care of for you and life is pretty easy. Every moment on this island was filled with freshness and gratitude, allowing me to realize only few things in life really matter. Adventure defines us, isn’t life is a continuous adventure?
