Body image and feeling confident about my body has always been a huge struggle for me. And the fact is, I am in 2 industries where that is one of the key ingredients to a successful career. Entertainment and Fitness. I often ask myself, why didn't I choose to be a food taster? That would have been the best job in the world since I LOVE food so much! It might also cause my death because I think that if I could, I would eat the whole world. But, through the years, I've been able to appreciate what God has given to me and and be very thankful for a full figured, healthy, and strong body.
I think my confidence began to shift when my good friend, Ania Przeplasko asked me to become a pole instructor. At the time, I was insecure with my body, my pole skills, and my abilities to be a good instructor. But, through time, pole dancing became the turning point in my life that made me an overall more confident woman. I grew with my students. And they taught me so much about myself. Teaching has also made me a better performer because of the skills you need to acquire to get your students attention and have them coming back for more.
It's funny, how all the things that I do in life have to do with influencing other people. Something I never thought that I'd be able to do. But, that's what a teacher does and that's what an artist does as well. It is such a special gift and privilege. And, when I can use the skills that I have to makes someone feel something.... whether it be, accomplishment, happiness, excitement, entertainment....etc. Then I feel like there is a purpose in my life.
In 2 wks Aerial Arts Academy will be holding a showcase. These are always special moments for the students to perform and show off their hard work. It is also a time for students to appreciate their instructors and see them in performance mode. I will be performing for one show on Sat, June 4th. It is always an honour to showcase the thing that has made me comfortable in my own skin. Hopefully, it will inspire others as well.

When I learn something new, I tend to relate new information to what I already know, and understand the relevance. Something as random as a first Parkour lesson is relatable to how we take simple moves for granted, and it sparks something spiritually too.
...perhaps it's being outdoors.
