Hội đồng Olympic châu Á (OCA) đã gửi đi thông báo bổ sung 8 trò chơi điện tử vào nội dung thi đấu giành huy chương tại Đại hội thể thao châu Á (ASIAN Games) 2022 diễn ra vào tháng 9/2022 tại Hàng Châu, Trung Quốc.

Các tựa game bao gồm Street Fighter V, Hearthstone, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Mobile (PUBG Mobile), Dota 2, Liên minh huyền thoại, Arena of Valor (Liên quân Mobile), EA Sports FIFA và Dream Three Kingdom 2. Riêng đối với PUBG Mobile và Liên quân Mobile, phiên bản dành riêng cho khu vực châu Á sẽ được đưa vào tranh tài.

Trước đây, thể thao điện tử (eSport) từng là một phần của Đại hội thể thao châu Á, nhưng đa phần chỉ là những sự kiện trình diễn. Vì thế, huy chương giành được trong các sự kiện này không được tính vào tổng thành tích mà mỗi quốc gia đạt được.
