破英文跟破產有關係嗎？你應該多擔心一點 !!!
朋友跟我說的句子：
X So they went bankruptcy.
他是說一間公司因經營不善，「...所以他們破產了。」
我們先說清楚：
bankruptcy /'bæŋkrəptsi/ 是名詞。
bankrupt /'bæŋkrəpt/ 是形容詞。
但是 go bankrupt 就是個片語，一個詞組，意思是破產那個過程，「變得破產」。所以上面應該是：
√ So they went bankrupt.
Go bankrupt 很常用：
If they keep raising their prices, people will just stop buying their stuff and they’ll go bankrupt.
(他們一直提高價錢的話，人們會停止買他們的東西，最後他們會破產。)
In the 1930’s, a lot of banks went bankrupt in the Great Depression.
(30年代大蕭條的時候很多銀行破產了。)

Go bankrupt 表示一個改變，am/is/are bankrupt 表示早就破產了，已經在破產的狀態中。如：
That company is already bankrupt. I heard that they might start selling off their assets soon.
(那個公司已經破產了。聽說不久他們就會開始賣掉所有的資產。)
有時 bankrupt 表示失去了美德、變壞：不是破產就是「破德」！
Those politicians are morally bankrupt. They started taking bribes a long time ago.
(這些政客道德淪喪，貪瀆已久。)
