Wrote this with @thejimmyharry in London last year. Those few weeks were chaotic...my phone was blowing up with notifications about the arrested pro-dem Legco members and students, and the siege of the universities in HK. I was overwhelmed, away from home, worried. Frustrated by how they blanket-label us as “rioters”. How misleading, how disingenuous. We talked about this and how the structural violence has ripped this generation’s youths off their dreams and aspirations. We decided to write a song about it, and it became ENEMY.
I also wanna thank @thedanielchu for the astute lyrical edits and beautiful string writing, and @hirsk_ for putting his heart into the sound design, it really shows.
And I can’t thank @canaanfkn enough 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘 for putting together the music video and cover art, I luv it sm. ( 真心sea of people)
At the time we wanted to make protest art against the anti-mask law, who knew we would be facing masks shortage shortly after? Who knew a bigger and scarier version of SARS was lurking not so far behind us? Who knew the masks would take on another layer of meaning?
But jeez I have the most talented and hardest working team EVER.
Without you my life would be mundane and tasteless. Thank u. And @hoccgoomusic thank u for trusting us.
