Legislative council Election was supposed to be held today (6th Sept).
With more than a hundred cases of new COVID-19 infection per day in late July, the Hong Kong government postponed the 2020 LegCo election for one year to prevent the chance mass infection on the polling day.
With the number of new local cases going down quickly in the past 2 weeks (there was only 7 new cases yesterday), some call for the resumption of LegCo election.
If it is safe for students from kindergarten to secondary school to return to classrooms by the end of September, and for citizens to line up for the mass COVID-19 testing where people need to take off their masks, then can it be said that it would also be safe for voters to line up to vote too?
𝐒𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐇𝐊 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐂𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫? In August 2020, Beijing has passed a decision which allows current Hong Kong lawmakers remain in office for at least one year until postponed election.

What do HK people think about the controversial National Security Law? 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐰.
Beijing will hold a key vote on the National security law on Hong Kong today. The Chief executive made it clear that there would not be any public consultation in HK and the law will take effect automatically.
There weren’t a million of people marching on the street voicing their opposition this time. Reason is simple - the police force does not approve the assembly.
Even so, do people simply take to the street? They do and risk being arrested and detained for one to two days without valid grounds. Riot police was present everywhere since yesterday’s morning to prevent anyone from protesting.
Hundreds were arrested yesterday. How many were arrested because they were standing on the pedestrian walk near protest area/walked past protest areas or simply because they were young?
Chief Executive Carrie Lam said on Tuesday that she is glad to see many people in Hong Kong support the National Security Law. However, hardly can people see any evidence.
The question remains - what's the public opinion?

Why do people of Hong Kong protest again?
Protests never stop since June 2019 but has largely scaled down in 2020 due to the pandemic.
Problems having arisen from the extradition bill protest remain unresolved and here comes another one in May 2020 - National Security Law tailor-made by Beijing for Hong Kong.
Unlike the extradition bill, the National Security Law will bypass Hong Kong's Legislative process and take effect automatically, leaving no room for discussion of its content.
The new law is intended to prevent, stop and punish acts in Hong Kong that threaten national security, and encompasses secessionist and subversive activity as well as foreign interference and terrorism. Details remain unclear. However, many fears it will further curb the city's freedoms.
