Pernah dengar tentang Glycemic Index (GI) /indeks glisemik?
Perasan tak pada beberapa roti Gardenia ada ditandakan brpkah nilai GI nya?
Jika yg wholemeal GI paling rendah iaitu 55, kemudian ada yg 64 dan 66. Roti Gardenia putih tidak ditandakan langsung kerana GI nya lebih tinggi sekitar 90!
Indeks Glisemik atau Glycemic Index (GI) adalah skala atau angka yang diberikan pada makanan tertentu berdasarkan seberapa cepat makanan tersebut meningkatkan KADAR GULA DARAHnya, skala yg digunakan adalah 0-100.
Makin tinggi indeks glikemik suatu makanan, makin cepat impaknya terhadap kenaikan gula darah.
Makanan dibagi ke 3 kategori:
Index glikemik rendah, sedang dan tinggi.
Dalam bahasa ringkasnya, Makanan dgn GI Tinggi akan cepat menaikkan kadar gula dan insulin. Anda akan cepat lapar. Biasanya 30min ke 1 jam setelah makan makanan ini anda akan terasa lapar semula.
GI sedang adalah makanan yang biasanya bertahan 2-3 jam baru anda lapar lagi.
Sedangkan makanan dgn GI Rendah akan bertahan selama 3-4 jam kerana makanan dgn GI rendah akan lebih lambat dicerna dan akan menjaga kadar gula dalam darah anda tetap berada di paras normal. Untuk mereka yang berniat menjaga kesihatan, berat badan ideal dan bahkan yang ingin turun berat badan, ini adalah makanan yang lebih banyak perlu dipilih.

Contoh makanan dengan index glisemik tinggi (Diatas 70), (sebaiknya dihindari atau dimakan dalam jumlah sedikit);
Roti putih
Nasi putih
Donat
Kentang
Mee biasa dan Mee segera
Minuman bersoda
Jagung
Pop Corn
Contoh makanan dengan index glisemik sederhana (Dari 56-69) (dimakan dalam jumlah terbatas) ;
Sponge cake
Beras Merah
Nanas
Pasta (spaghetti, macaroni dll)
Roti gandum
Ice cream
Pastry
Mangga
Contoh makanan dgn index glisemik rendah (dari 0-55);
Pisang
Jagung putih
Epal
Tomato
Ubi keledek/ubi ungu
Nasi beras perang
Green Tea
Herbalife Formula 1 Shake (Skala 15-20 sahaja)
Tapi ingat! Index glisemik berbeza dengan kalori. Walaupun index glisemiknya rendah, anda tetap harus perihatin dengan yg kalorinya tinggi. Misal: Kacang. Kacang memiliki index glikemik rendah tapi kalorinya sangat tinggi. Jadi kalau anda makan berlebihan, ia tidak membantu program org yg ingin turun berat badan.

Ever heard of glycemic index (GI) / Glycemic Index?
Do you notice that some gardenia bread is marked by the value of the gi value?
If the wholemeal goes to the lowest which is 55, then there are 64 and 66. White Gardenia bread not marked at all because the GI is higher about 90!
Glycemic Index (Glycemic Index) is a scale or number given to certain food based on how fast the food increases its BLOOD SUGAR, the scale used is 0-100.
The higher the glycemic index of a food, the faster the impact of blood sugar increases.
Food divided into 3 categories:
Low glycemic index, medium and high.
In the the language, food with high gi will quickly increase the rate of sugar and insulin. You will be hungry quickly. Usually 30 min to 1 hours after eating this food you will be hungry again.
GI is a food that usually lasts 2-3 hours then you're hungry again.
While the food with low gi will last for 3-4 hours because the food with low gi will be slower and will keep the sugar rate in your blood still at normal level. For those who want to take care of health, ideal weight and even those who want to lose weight, this is more food to choose from.

Examples of high glycemic index (Above 70), (should be avoided or eaten in little amount);
White bread
White rice
Donuts
Potatoes
Regular noodles and instant noodles
Carbonated drink
Corn
Pop Corn
Examples of simple glysemic index (From 56-69) (limited quantities);
Sponge cake
Red rice
Pineapple
Pasta (spaghetti, macaroni dll)
Wheat bread
Ice cream
Pastry
Mango
An example of food with low glycemic index (from 0-55);
Banana
White corn
Apple
Tomato
Sweet Potato / Purple potato
Brown rice rice
Green Tea
Herbalife Formula 1 Shake (Scale 15-20 only)
But remember! Glysemic index is different from calories. Even though the glysemic index is low, you still have to be concerned with the calories are high. For example: Peanuts. Peanuts have low glycemic index but the calories are very high. So if you eat too much, it doesn't help the program of people who want to lose weight.Translated

This was very spontaneous and last minute, but to those joining me in my personal challenge here are some guidelines..
22nd of May to 10th of June (if you're on a different time zone just start on the next day and follow through for 21 days)
NO Fast food, Junk Food, Refined Sugar (Cakes, Cookies, Treats), Soda, Deep fried food, Starchy carbs (white rice, white bread, pasta, potatoes), LIMIT/AVOID Alcohol, REDUCE Salt Intake AND Eat MORE lean protein (fish, chicken, tofu, etc), vegetables, fruits and healthy fat for the next 21 days
Post all your meals on Instagram and hashtag #KamyJ21DayChallenge so we can encourage & keep track of each other's challenge. I will also be posting ALL my meals/snacks so you can use it as examples..

Today, let us take a look at what our panel of judges think about CY's idea of a 3-in-1 business concept, which combines a cafe, DIY craft centre and Community Living Hall under one roof.
Bryan Loo, Managing Director of Chatime commented that by putting too many highlights into a business, it will lose focus in its most potential area; in other words, lose its identity.
He quoted McDonald's as an example, by focusing on selling Coke, burgers and fries; the strategy allows the fast food chain to stand the test of time. "Losing your focus will lead to losing your initial passion too," he said.
"Worst still, it will give your consumers a false sense of position, causing them to be confused over what business you are in," he added.
Datin Winnie Loo, Founder of A Cut Above and also the Personal Branding Expert from School of Charisma finds CY's idea quite interesting, but she also throws the question, "is it practical enough?"
She commented that besides creativity, location is equally important. "To stand out, you need to have your own uniqueness, to have at least something for people to talk about and chase after," she said.
Datuk Eric Chong, President of Branding Association of Malaysia thinks that the idea is creative, however, he hasn't see much successful examples that run on such a concept.
"The idea of a DIY centre might attract like-minded people, but how big is the number? Most importantly, can it ensure the sustainability of the business?" He has his reservations as he finds the market segment is not big.
With these comments from all the judges, can CY brave through the challenges and emerge as the winner? Stay tune for more updates!

"更糟糕的是,过于花巧的企业概念将会对顾客造成混淆。"他进一步说。
对于A Cut Above的创始人,同时也是School of Charisma讲师的Datin Winnie Loo来说,CY的企业概念确实有创意,可是她也同时抛出了一个问题:"执行起来又是否切实可行呢?"
她认为,除了创意,地点也非常重要。"想要脱颖而出,你必须要拥有本身的特点,至少要有某些让别人热烈讨论或疯狂追捧的东西。"她说。
尽管身为马来西亚品牌协会主席的Datuk Eric Chong觉得CY的点子有创意,可是他个人觉得这种综合性质的食肆, 暂时没有看见太多成功的例子。
"手工艺术的确可以吸引同道中人,可是究竟人数会有多大?而更重要的是,它是否可以成为可持续性发展的企业模式?"对此,他有所保留,毕竟市场并不大。

INGREDIENTS
RED VELVET MUG CAKE
A. For the cake
70 gr all purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
20 gram caster sugar
20 gram white chocolate
50 ml milk - at room temperature
45 ml oil
1/2 egg (2 Tbsp/ 25 gram) - at room tempt
1/2 tsp red food color
B. Cream cheese frosting
40 gram cream cheese - at room tempt
30 ml whipping cream 35% fat - cold
10 gram caster sugar
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
To make the frosting: whisk cream cheese until smooth, then add in whipping cream, sugar and vanilla, whip until the cream reaches stiff peak. Keep in the fridge until use. Note that this cream gets thicken and reaches stiff peak quite fast, particularly if you whip it with a mixer. So pay attention in the last minute (after the cream has reached soft peak) to avoid overwhipping the cream (which makes cream look curdled or lumpy).

CARAMELISED APPLE CAKE
A. For the cake
50 gram apples - chopped
25 ml (5 teaspoon) unsweetened yogurt - at room tempt
25 ml (5 teaspoon) unsweetened milk - at room tempt
40 ml (3 Tbsp minus 1 teaspoon) oil
1/2 egg (25 gram/ 2 Tbsp) - at room tempt
35 gram brown sugar
75 gr all purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp cinnamon powder
B. Caramelised apple
15 apple - chopped
8 gram (1/2 tablespoon) unsalted butter
8 gram (1/2 tablespoon) brown sugar

CHOCOMALLOW CAKE
20 gram unsalted butter
50 ml (3 Tbsp plus 1 tsp) milk - at room tempt
45 gr all purpose flour
15 gr natural unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 tsp baking powder
35 gram caster sugar
25 ml (5 tsp) unsweetened yogurt - at room tempt
1/2 egg (25 gram/ 2 Tbsp) - at room tempt
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Marshmallow

MOCHA BREAD PUDDING
100 gram old bread of any type (some popular examples are brioche, croissants, baguette, milk loaf)
2 egg medium sized (60 gr/ egg including shell) - at room tempt
40 gram caster sugar
135 ml milk at room tempt
150 ml whipping cream at room tempt
15 ml coffee (strong - can be substitute with 15 ml milk if you don't like coffee)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
20 - 30 gram raisins
