(English version below)

Vesak Day commemorates the Great Sage Lord Buddha and His spirit of contribution to all sentient beings. On this auspicious day, what can we do to repay the Buddha's great kindness?
If there is a celebratory event at the temple, we can join the celebration. But first be sure that this temple is one with monks practising authentic Dharma and upholding the precepts.
On Vesak Day, we can take a bath at home and refrain from taking meat. Taking a bath means to clean your body from head to toes, and changing into clean clothing. The clothes may not necessary be new but it must be clean and dry. After that, you can sit on a praying mat or a sofa, facing the statue or thangka of Lord Buddha Sakyamuni. With both palms clasped facing each other, or holding a string of chanting beads, chant respectively the following: Namo Ben Shi Shi Jia Mo Ni Fo.
It is best to chant 1080 times.
We must first recite a sutra. It can be the Heart Sutra, the High King Sutra or a sutra of your choice. Then recite the Repentance verse thrice:
The evil karmas I have done with my body, speech, and mind are caused by greed, anger, and delusion, which are without a beginning. Before Buddhas I now supplicate for my repentance.
On this day, your negative karma will be greatly reduced, and your merits increased a hundred-fold. In mortal words, what a bargain!
Lord Buddha is the Principal Diety of the removal of karmic hindrance. That is why we get to be cleansed of our karmic hindrances on this day. His empowerment is ultimate. Another way to address Lord Buddha is the King of Merits. As the name speaks for itself, the merits generated from His spiritual cultivation is second to none.
After the spiritual cultivation session, do not get up immediately. Instead, give yourself 10 to 15 minutes in meditative silence, visualising brilliant golden rays from Lord Buddha illuminating yourself.
After you are done with this, do a merit dedication: May the merits from this session be dedicated to my parents, that they may have affinity with the Buddha, to hear and practice the Dharma, to repent for their misdeeds, to treat people and things with benevolence, to benefit themselves and others, and attain true bliss and free of sufferings.
We must repay the kindness of our parents first.
But don't think that with this merit dedication to another, you are left with nothing. It does not work this way. You are the one who did the actual cultivation, and that will give you 70% of the merits, with the other party getting the remaining 30%.
After which you confess your past misdeed to Lord Buddha. You may do it in silence if you are worried others might hear.
O Lord Buddha, I, so-and-so, now sincerely repent for my past misdeeds, such as stealing, foul-mouthed, rebuke parents, cheating, sexual misconduct, etc.
You can be honest to Lord Buddha and no need to fear others eavesdropping on you.
Please remember that Repentance is an important and powerful Dharma. If there's no Repentance during your spiritual cultivation, the practice would be incomplete. Repentance is present in all religions. All authentic religions will teach its believers to repent for their own misdeeds.
Repentance is to return to your original pure nature, to be cleansed of your sins. It is like washing a very dirty piece of clothes.
Do not miss this good opportunity to cleanse our karmic hindrances.
Vesak Day is the day of Lord Buddha, the founder of Buddhism. His compassion is all all encompassing and His Light will illuminate us and cleanse us of our negative karma as well as increase our merits. What an auspicious day!
Remember this when you bath the Buddha's statue. Even as the water runs down the statue externally, the pure water also cleanse our inner self of negative karma accumulated over many lifetimes. These become black smoke and emits from the eighty-four thousand pores all over our body. We are then cleansed of karmic hindrances, not just from this lifetime but from many many previous lives. We used to be regal-looking and not like what we are now.
Master Dai Hu wishes all my fans and readers a Happy and Blessed Vesak Day. 🙏

Spiritual Cultivation Is Your Own Responsibility (English version below)
Before the start of my article, here's wishing all my readers and your families a Happy Winter Solstice and may your year end on a auspicious and complete note. The weather is turning cold. Do remember to wear more clothing to avoid catching a cold.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
若干年前,有客人對吾說,她他們想買靠近吾住的地方,甚至最靠近吾住的單位,害吾在那段日子,彷若電影中的「忍者」,什麼意思?「神出鬼沒」。她他們的理由是;生活中碰到難題,可以第一時間找到吾,並給於她他們實際的幫助。這些客人有這樣的想法,是真的可以理解的,或許她他們忘了,「天下無不散之宴席」,這句話。
人與人之間的因緣,是非常之微妙的,又不可思議的。不是嗎?想想看,最疼愛妳你的人,現在還在妳你身邊嗎?最要好的同學,如今是否還有聯絡?最敬愛的師長,還在嗎?幼時的玩伴,現在在哪裡?人生是要順應變遷的,更要在這人事因緣變遷中,學習獨立、學習堅強、啟發智慧、累積經驗,未來才能更上一層樓。
曾有人要求吾守護他一家人, 一直到其子女長大成人,他敢講吾倒是不敢聽。哈!哈!哈!其實啊!到今天依然有男有女,一樣要吾守護她他們一家人,長長久久,祇是有些是明說,有些則眼神透露,確實叫吾受寵若驚,一時不知如何回應。這時才領悟,什麼叫有情眾生。說真的,每當有這些客人的請求,吾都是感到無比榮幸的,祇是君子之交淡如水啊!有緣自然來相聚,互相珍惜,惜福惜緣,那就夫復何求了。
我們「出現」在這人世間,祇有兩個字,那就是修行,修正我們的行為,一直到達覺行圓滿,永遠快樂、自在、任運,這種真實的覺受境界,唯有真正成佛才能夠完完全全體會及擁有。吾少食少眠少憩,就是為了妳你們的「終生大事」,除此之外,吾已找不到任何意義寫作。親愛的讀者粉絲們,切記師父引進門,修行在個人。
------------------------
Many years ago, some clients told me that they wanted to buy a residential unit near my place, a unit as near as possible! At that time, I had to be like the ninja as depicted in the movie, moving around stealthily to prevent myself from being discovered! Their reason to live near me was to have immediate access to my practical assistance, should they encounter problems in life. I can totally understand why my clients think this way but perhaps they forget that "all good times must come to an end."
The affinity between people is very intricate and unfathomable. Is it not so? Think about it, the one who doted the most on you, is he or she by your side now? The best of classmates, are you still in touch with them now? The teacher whom you respected the most, is he or she still around? Your playmates from childhood, where are they now? Our lives are always in a constant flux of change. In the midst of all these changes in our relationships, we should learn to be independent and strong, to develop our own wisdom and accumulate our experience. Only then can we make progress.
Once, there was a person who requested me to watch over his entire family, until his children grow up. It was an audacious request that I could not bear to hear. Ha ha ha! In fact, even till today, there are still such requests from my clients, some verbal, others through their eye expressions, to look after their families. I am taken aback by these requests and the trust bestowed on me, that I do not know how to react at first. It was at such a moment that the realisation hit me: sentient beings are emotional creatures. Every time I hear such a request, I am honoured, but the friendship between men of virtue should be pure like water and free from self-interest. We will meet and gather when the conditions arises, and we should treasure one another and our affinity. Only then will we have no regrets.
We appear in this world for a singular purpose: spiritual cultivation. That is to cultivate righteousness in our speech, body and mind and attain enlightenment, achieving eternal bliss, freedom and contentment. Only beings in the state of Buddhahood are able to fully experience this state of Truth. I compromised on my sleep and meal times to prepare you for the "biggest event of your life". There is no other goal more worthy than that for me to continue my writings. My beloved readers, please keep in mind that a Master can only show you the door, you will have to take the first step in.
