[Of Hopeful, Happy paintings]
Is there an artwork or image (maybe with a quote) that makes you happy or hopeful? Can you think of any?
A close girlfriend recently told me about her uncle being hospitalised after finding out that he has terminal cancer. She messaged me and told me that she looked around for something hopeful to hold on to to cheer him up, and that was when she realised how bare and gloomy the hospital looked. There was one photo of a flower hung in the room "that looked like it was printed from the internet" she told me.
That made me think about art that bring hope and joy. Here are some paintings I did many years ago (before I posted stuff online!) that make me happy, personally. The first is a painting I did of one of my closest girlfriends who is one of the most free-spirited, energetic people you'll meet. The second one I painted with I was about 14, and I referenced an image I saw in a book of a boy and his dad barbequeing in front of an oven - I thought that was super sweet.
Are there any images/paintings that bring you happiness/hope that you can share? Or were there any paintings in hospitals you've seen that lifted your spirits? I'd love to know, and wonder if anything can be changed in these hospitals. Maybe we could initiate a project together to make things better.
