I recently spoke up about representation in Hollywood.. or anywhere actually. If you want to play the Southeast Asian game, you gotta have Southeast Asian players. In my 15 years working in the international music industry I have been ‘trying’ to prove my worth to the world that yes- I’m a southeast Asian woman and I too can be great at what I do. Southeast Asian women sometimes get little or no respect for our efforts because of where we come from (this is where third world country, sexualization of SEA women comes to mind) or the colour of our skin. We needed to go above and beyond to have a seat at the table. Now that the entertainment world is starting to recognize SEA talents and the richness of our culture- it’s important that we are involved in carefully telling our story and not let anyone else write our narrative for us. You can’t pick and choose what Southeast Asian narrative you want to tell your audience, you need to embrace us for who we are. We need to be in on the conversation. Hire us. We are here.

Our girls and boys need to see us out there so they know that - with whatever they have in them, no matter how small a village they come from, they can achieve what sometimes seems impossible. But it’s not. They can be world class too.

When I’m out there and I tell people I’m southeast Asian, and Malaysian, I’d get different reactions. “Wait how are you Asian but dark skin? Wait how are you Asian but you’re Muslim? Wait how is your English so good?” People still have no idea (or a skewed idea) of who we are so let’s find every opportunity to make our mark in whatever field we want to excel in. Demand a spot to tell our story.

ちょっとだけ下品な言葉使い？

おそらく皆さんお気づきかと思いますが、ネイティブの日常会話では「Cuss Words」や「Swear words」と言われる、いわゆる下品で汚い言葉（FuckやShitなどの罵り言葉）を使うのは珍しいことではありません。というか、友達同士の会話では常識と言っても過言ではないので、英語を自然に話せるようになるには知っておく必要があるでしょう。しかし、それぞの言葉の意味や重みをしっかり理解せずやみくもに使うと、相手の気分を害したり傷付けたりすることにもなる得るので、今回は罵り言葉でも表現が和らげられた言い回しをご紹介します。

1) Fuck → Fudge・Frick
→「くそっ！」
--------------------------------------------------
　
既にご存知かと思いますが、Fuckはネイティブの日常会話では頻繁に使われる言葉の一つです。一般的に怒りの気持ちを示す役割、または友達同士との会話でのいわゆる“タメ口”のような使われ方をします。しかし、子供の前やフォーマルな場などFuckを使うのが不適切な状況では、Fuckの代わりにFudgeやFrickが使われます。
　
✔「Fucking」の場合は「Freaking」や「Effin」が使われる。
　
✔Fudgeは本来「クリーミーなチョコレート」を意味する。Frickは特に意味はない。
　
✔こんな言葉の遊びもする！

「Back the fuck up（下がれ！すっこんでろ！）」→「Back the truck up!」

「Shut the fuck up！（だまれ！）」→「Shut the front door!」
　
＜例文＞
　
What the frick are you doing? Quit lagging. Hurry up!
（一体、何しているんだよ？ぐずぐずしないで早くしてよ！）
　
I want to go home. I'm so freaking/effin tired!
（家に帰りたい。メッチャ疲れた！）
　
Ah, fudge! I forgot to lock the door. We have to go back.
（やってもうた、鍵するん忘れたわ。家に戻らな。）

2) Shit → Shoot・Crap
→「しまった」

Shitもネイティブがよく口にする表現で、一般的に何か失敗やミスを犯したときに思わず口にする「しまった！」の意味として用いられますが、「This tastes like shit.（これ、まずい）」や「I feel like shit.（体調が悪い）」のように他にも様々な用法があります。しかし、Shitの本来の意味は「排便・大便」ということからも、やはり下品で汚い響きがあるので、そのような（汚い）表現をするのが不適切な場では、下品な響きのないshootまたはcrapをShitの代わりに使いましょう。因みに日常会話では、「排泄・大便」の意味としても使うのも一般的です。
　
✔「しまった！」として使う場合は、ShootとCrapの両方使えるが、それ以外の意味は基本的にcrapになる。
　
✔Shitの形容詞は「Shitty」で、その丁寧な言い回しが「crappy」。
　
✔驚いたときの「Holy shit!（うわっ！）」を丁寧に言うと「Holy cow!」。
　
＜例文＞
　
Shoot! I forgot to make a reservation. I'll call the restaurant right now.
（しまった！予約を入れるのを忘れた。今すぐレストランに電話するよ。）
　
I think I got food poisoning. I feel like crap.
（食中毒になったかも。気持ち悪い〜）
　
I'm having a crappy day. It's just one of those days when nothing goes right.
（最悪の一日や。何やってもあかん日やわ。）

3) Damn → Dang・Darn
→「うわっ / くそっ」

Damnは基本的に2つの状況で使われます。1つ目は、驚きや怒り、悔しさの気持ちを示すとき、またはその気持ちを強調するとき。2つ目は、失敗やミスをしたときに呟く「ちくしょう！」と同じ用法です。Damnは、FuckやShitと比べるとそこまで下品な響きはありませんが、やはり子供の前やフォーマルな場での使用は好ましくないので、代わりに「dang」や「darn」が丁寧な言い回しとして使われます。Darnはちょっと古い言い方で年配の人が使う傾向があり、一方でdangはより若者向けの言い方になります。
　
✔Damnの代わりにDammitという言いこともあり、その丁寧な言い回しは「dang it」。
　
✔Dangは良いことに対する驚きとしてもよく使れ、その場合は「すげー！」に相当する。
　
＜例文＞
　
Darn! We just missed the bus. The next one isn't coming for another hour.
（やってもうた！ぎりぎりバス逃してもうたわ。次のバスは１時間後やで。）
　
It's so loud in here! Turn the dang volume down!
（音楽うるさいって！音量下げて！）
　
You got a perfect score on the TOEIC test? Dang! That's impressive.
（TOEICで満点とったの？すげーな！よくやったじゃん！）

4) Ass → butt
→「バカ・アホ」

Assは本来、動物のロバを意味する単語で、そこから派生をして間抜けな人やバカな人のことを表すようになりました。また同時にAssは「お尻」も意味することから、意味は同じですが、そこまで下品な響きでないbuttが丁寧な言い回しとして使われています。例えば「Pain in the ass（面倒くさい）」を「Pain in the butt」、「Kick your ass（ぼこぼこにする）」を「Kick your butt」のように表現することができます。
　
✔Assは「funny ass guy（超おもしろい人）」や「Tall ass person（背がめっちゃ高い人）」のようにポジティブな意味合いとしても使われ、日本語の「超」や「めっちゃ」に相当する。その場合は、buttを置き換えることはできない。
　
＜例文＞
　
Applying for a visa is such a pain in the butt.
（ビザの申請は本当に厄介です。）
　
Did you see the boxing match last night? The reigning champ got his butt kicked!
（昨日のボクシングの試合見た？元チャンピオンがぼこぼこにされたよ。）
　
Mike is a cool ass dude. I'm sure you'll like him.
（マイクはめっちゃいいやつだよ。絶対に気にいると思う。）

5) Hell → Heck
→「驚きの気持ちや怒りの気持ちを強調」

Hellおよび丁寧な言い回しのHeckは、状況により様々な意味合いとして使われますが、一般的には驚きの気持ちや怒りの気持ちを強調するときに用いられます。例えば、友達にいきなり頭を叩かれたら「What the hell/heck, man?（一体何だよ？）」と言ったり、フルマラソンに参加しないか誘われたが「絶対ヤダ！」と返事する場合は「hell/heck no」と言ったりします。Hellは「地獄」を意味し、面識のない人の前で使うと冷ややかな目で見られることがあるので、親しくない人との会話ではHellの代わりにheckを使いましょう。
　
✔下記「Hell/Heck」を使った定番の表現。

「Who/What/Where/Why/When/How the hell/heck is _____?」
→「〜は一体誰/何/どこ/いつ/どうやって？」

「Hell/Heck yes/no」→「もちろん / 絶対ヤダ」

「Just for the hell/heck of it」→「騙されたと思って」

「One hell/heck of a _____」→「素晴らしい〜」

（彼は一体どこへ行ったの？もう１時間以上たってるよ。）

6) Jesus → Jeez / God → Goodness (Gosh)
→「何てことだ！」

びっくりした時や信じられない気持ちを表す時によく使われる表現です。日本の皆さんもよくご存知かと思いますが、アメリカ人は「Oh my god」をよく口にします。しかし宗教的な問題から、Jesus（イエス・キリスト）やGod（神様）をスラングとして使うのは基本的にはNGです。辺り構わず軽率に使うと（特に熱心な宗教家の人の前で使うと）相手を怒らせたり傷つけてしまったりするなどトラブルにもなり兼ねないので十分に気をつけましょう。一般的にアメリカでは、Jesusの代わりにJeez、Godの代わりにGoodnessやGoshが丁寧な言い回しとして使われています。
　
✔「Jesus! / Jeez!」→「なんてこった、あら、嘘でしょう、わ〜」
　
✔「Oh my god/goodness/gosh」→「何てことだ、信じられない、どうしよう」
　
＜例文＞
　
You gambled all your money away? Jeez. You have to be more responsible.
（博打でお金を使い果たした？嘘でしょう。もっと責任を持たないと。）

Objectives
1 Go inside and speak with the front desk.
2 Proceed to the next area and start collecting all five comics. Press Up on the Dpad to reveal the objective markers.
3 Objective A requires you to score at least 150 points in a shooting game.

4 Objective B is a high striker game in the arcade that can be easily won by mashing ◯ and then quickly pressing △.

5 As you approach Objective C, you'll get another objective where you will be asked to look for a duplicate comic.

#'95年にハドソン、レッドカンパニーが開発、ハドソンが発売したRPG作品であり天外魔境シリーズの外伝作品。
唯一SFCで出された天外魔境作品でもある。
企画のきっかけに、スタッフらの子供達がDQ、FFはプレイしても天外魔境はプレイしていないという事実がある。

システムではパーソナル・ライブ・ゲージ・システム(PLGS)という、カートリッジにカレンダー・時計を内蔵し、現実時間に合わせゲーム内のイベントが変化、例えば出会い茶屋なる出会い系施設があり、会って話すだけでなく何人かは時間とお金次第でで最終的には家を買ってあげ、女の子を住まわせられる。それも何股もかけて行えたりする。

RPGとして作りは丁寧であり、雰囲気にどっぷり浸かれる事のできた人には名作となりえる作品。

BGMはサクラ大戦シリーズやプリンセスコネクト！Re:Dive等の田中氏ら3名による共同作曲。

LATE SHIFTについて：
映画を見ていると「そこは逃げるべき！」や「ひとりで歩き回るな！」など、登場人物に対して「こう行動したらいいのに！」と思うことがあります。そんな視聴者側の意見をくみ取りストーリーに反映する世界初の視聴者参加型映画として配信されたのが「Late Shift」です。
