Coming close to Mother’s Day , I’m gonna share with you a dish that’s sentimental to my queen. My mother n her sisters did not live with their mother. Their father passed on when they were young. Moms paternal grandmother took her n her sisters to live with them in the family house in Pontian. My mother always tell the story on how her mother lived far in Pahang and in the olden days every school break n uni break she would travel by bus to stay with her mother even though it’s against the wishes of my great grand mother and on every stay my Tok Mok ( my mother’s mom ) would definitely cook this dish. Growing up I never really fancied this dish because of the color and a slight ink smell .. but as I grew up I learned to appreciate the taste and the stories . May be the saying is true, they say when you go black you’ll never turn back. Today’s recipe is “Sotong Masak Hitam” •
