For our Halloween playdate, I created a process art space for the little ones to go wild (without the clean-up!). I threw in a variety of materials like markers, coloring pencils, different size crayons, stamps, washi tape, stickers, paper, gluesticks, etc.
There was no "end product" but oh what a joy it was to watch them create!

WHAT IS PROCESS ART? :
***
Process art is the open-ended "creative" process of making whereas product art is about the "masterpiece" at the end.
While different situations might call for different types of support and learning, your child gains a tremendous amount of skills through process art including:
***
fine motor skills | gross motor skills | coordination | sensory exploration | literacy | math | science | language | art history | creativity | art techniques | risk-taking | spatial reasoning | self-expression
***
While learning to listen and follow is an inherent skill to master, research has shown that toddlers learn and develop emotionally, socially, and cognitively far more through process art than product art.
A good way to tell if the craft is process-driven or product-driven - does it look perfect or are you not really able to tell what it is? If you have a little toddler and absolutely can't decipher what they just "made", you're on the right track!
***
A great tip? Don't ask them what it is as it might be very obvious to them. Instead, ask them to tell you about their work. Lots of open-ended questions, exploring, and basically allowing them the space to lead, create, and have fun fun fun!

That time I got ZOMBIE special effects makeup. Halloween is two months away and this is a great idea for a Halloween costume. You can get zombie makeup on your face or a full body painting done to have a not-so-traditional halloween costume.
So last week I saw this ad on a Facebook page, looking for a model to do special effects make up on. It was going to be my day off the next day so I volunteered, met Abra, the special effects make up artist, and this video was what we did that day. This was a tricky edit for me. Since I don't have a lot of video equipment, I only had one angle of the whole thing while I was getting make up done. And I particularly wasn't feeling creative this week. I heard someone say on the internet that "when in doubt, just keep creating" and that was the mantra I kept on repeating in my head for motivation. Hope everyone enjoy this video. Check out Abra's work. She's extremely talented, so happy I meet creative people, and I'd like for everyone to see her work.

If you want to create videos, I say do it. Do it now, do it today. It doesn’t have to be for anyone, do it for yourself. Personally, I learnt so much and I enjoyed it every step of the way especially post production. ;) Comment below for any questions about this video or making content for Youtube and I’ll be happy to answer them for you.
