Tucked away from the bustling Penang Road, Snow story & Chef De Cuisine is probably one of the most "international" cafes in Penang... with a partnership consists of more than 3 nationalities. It started off with Snow Story, a shaved ice-focused Japanese dessert parlor manned by a Japanese proprietor (the wife is a local Penangite) and recently, joined by a couple from Hong Kong, who runs Chef De Cuisine. Snow Story offers a small dessert menu but the variety assures authenticity- everything is home-made and that includes the colorful sugar syrup, all made using natural ingredients like fruits and vegetables. For main, turn to Chef De Cuisine; the Michelin-starred restaurant trained Chef offers a unique range of Western dishes... with a delightful Asian touch. While quality is above average, the prices are lower than expected. The only setback is the limited seating, it can be a great spot to hold small lunch meetings or gathering otherwise.

What's a better way to cool off and enjoy a scoop of creamy frozen confections with freshly baked Waffles? But TFros 冰天雪地, a relatively new Ice Cream parlor at Armenian Street decided to be a little playful on the flavors and combination. It churns out Muffle, a combination of Muffin and Waffle or in other words, Muffin but in the shape of Waffle. Muffle-aside, this Ice Cream cafe offers creamy sweet treats in decadent flavors; notable ones include Black Doris Plum, Passion Fruit and Lemon Curd, Honey Comb, Rose & French Vanilla, Pulut Hitam etc. It does not serve any mains here, merely a dessert-focused menu centering Ice Creams. TFros has a rather snug space (3 tables that seat up to 12 pax only) so if you wish to visit in a big group, please do make sure you call in and make reservation.

Possibly the only place in Alma that you can find hand-crafted Soft Serve; the newly opened Born 16 Soft Serve is potentially one of the best spots for you to quell the sultry tropical heat. The Ice Cream parlor is housed in one of the houses right in front of the AEON Mall Bukit Mertajam and can be easily spotted from the main road. The interior is simple and no-frills; with a simple, straight-forward and small menu on the offer- Waffles or Soft Serve (or both).
