I realise that I don’t celebrate my husband enough. So I’m going to share his work today ❤️

Carsten is an Engineer, and he worked for quite some time in the Shipping Industry.

Since building Baumhaus, however, he’s discovered a passion for designing creative spaces, and facilitating positive social interaction through them.

Together with our partners in Germany, Carsten has launched @rakoondesign to bring high-quality, pedagogically-aligned indoor and outdoor playground design— mostly made of solid birch wood, and all following the EU standards for playground creation.

(I’m not kidding— every design needs to adhere to strict proportions based on the EU regulations!)

At the same time, these have been educationally designed to address the needs of children in various developmental stages, while promoting a culture of curiosity, independent learning, and positive risk-taking among children.

So if you see our treehouse in your schools, home estates and other playrooms and children’s spaces, I’m so proud to say that Carsten and his team are behind them. Get in touch if you’re interested to know more 😊

When I learned about @k11musea I struggled to wrap my head around the fact that this one building was a shopping complex, museum, playground, sustainable farm, and cultural center all at once. I realised that I had never experienced such a multi-dimensional place like this before and am still surprised at the profound impact it’s had on me.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
K11 MUSEA has opened my eyes to what a building can be and can do to bring people together, and to create positive social and environmental change. Its design fuses together seemingly different spaces, creating a hybrid of indoor and outdoor gardens for you to spend time in nature, cosy cafes and common spaces for quiet contemplation or community gatherings, and expansive galleries and art exhibits to wander through and feed the soul.

I love that this building draws from the collective expertise of over 100 creative powers, and I’m yearning for more places like this. Places that are a reflection of who we are as a society, with our infinite complexity, variety, and uniqueness. It has me thinking about how can we design spaces in our homes, offices, and within our communities to bring down barriers, to combat loneliness, and to create ideas, change, and new possibilities.

My little kimono boi had his best time at the newly opened BUDS at Shangri-La Hotel Singapore - the most “sublime” indoor playground we ever seen! SPANNING Across 850 sqm indoors, Buds at Shangri-la is an immersive and interactive play space for children catering for hotel guests and public!

There’s 4 themed activity area, double level spaces, toddler area, plenty of slides, wide and long ball pit, etc! SO MUCH fun packed and curated together to bring fun, learning, and bonding time with the parents!

Nursing room & custom design children’s restrooms are within premises.

Don’t get me started on the nursing room, we will share more in the next posts!

If you are thinking of heading down soon, do note 3 hours play priced at $48, but if you are dining at their restaurant, you only need to top up $28 for the kids to play!

There is a Recharge Café for parents and RFID wristband technology to keep your children safe & secure as well! What are you waiting for?
