So I run to the grocery store after and pick up some things to speak J’s love language : tacos.
If you know the background of our story, you would know that somewhere unspoken in our wedding vows is a boy that left everything behind to dream big dreams with me halfway across the world.
...so my promise to him was that as much as I could, I would always try to bring a piece of home with us and for our little one but I’ll be honest, a lot of the time, that gets pushed aside for other more “important” things like sleep or sanity or takeout. 😅
I mixed up some homemade taco seasoning(cumin, oregano, paprika, hot chilli, onion and garlic powder, black pepper, salt) and rubbed it on the fish and cooked it into the minced beef.
Finished w a simple spicy flavorful corn salsa (fresh corn, cherry tomatoes, cilantro, red onions, jalapeños, lime, salt, pepper), shredded iceberg lettuce, chopped avocado, organic mix cheese and a dollop of sour cream in flour tortilla.
It’s not a lot, but it is everything.
Fight for your marriage in the little and big, hold each other in the highest regard, a promise is a promise is a promise.
Last night, a little bit of my before him came back in the most beautiful redeeming way, and as I woke J up to tell him, he just smiled as I smiled through my tears.
You is kind. You is smart. You is important.
God is still writing our love story.
