This is my friend Sumi. We have been friends for over 12 years. My very very best friend. We celebrated her birthday last night. Her birthday falls on August 30 and it has been a tradition to have a house party the night before because August 31 is a public holiday!!!

We met in our first year of college in KL and studied together in South Africa and then Melbourne. I did national service in Sepang and she did hers in Bau, Kuching.

We don’t hug each other, we don’t say miss you or love you, we don’t call each other babe (too weird!), but deep down we know, I have her and she has me. This is such a cringe message to write, because I’m not an affectionate person, neither is she. Thank you for introducing me to good music and to good pasta!! Happy belated birthday Sumi!
I honestly feel a bit geli writing this slightly heartfelt message. Ok bye!

'Mak… adik lapar ...’

Rasa geli hati kan nampak posting-posting telur dari kami? Menarik pun ada, sebab ada unsur lawak jika anda faham mesej tersurat dan tersiratnya. Tapi ada ceritanya mengapa. Nak tahu? Kami kongsikan.

'Mak… adik lapar ...’

Kata anak kecil yang baru bermain-main di depan rumah kepada ibunya… ibu sedang mengadun tepung, persediaan untuk perniagaan kueh mueh esok. Ibu pun berhenti sekejap dan bergesa-gesa di dapur, basuh tangan dan mencapai kuali untuk menunaikan permintaan anaknya…

Kuali dicapai dan minyak dipanaskan. Ibu pun pecahkan telur dan menantikan telur masak walaupun terkena percikkan minyak panas. Sambil tu, ibu panaskan nasi kerana nak hidang makanan adik dengan telur goreng, nasi panas dan kicap manis.

“Aduhhh…”

“Kenapa mak?”

“Tak der apa nak, terkena minyak panas tadi, karang terkena wap nasi pulak…”

“Dah siap masak dah dik… mari mak suapkan”

“Mak tak nak adik lapar… cepat mai sini”

Tahun berlalu … adik dah besar.

Tetiba air mata jatuh … teringat telur goreng ibu pagi ni.
Walaupun telur sahaja … rindu mak sangat-sangat.

Kasih ibu walaupun hanya dengan sebutir telur

Tapi masakan air tangan ibu tetap kita kenang

Dari kecil hingga dewasa dan tua

Dalam susah dan senang kita tetap kenang

Dalam perjalanan hidup kita ini antara memori penting… Ibu… Mak…

Feels so nervous to see eggs posting from us? Interesting there is, because there is a joke if you understand the text and implicate message. But there's a story why. Want to know? We share.

'Mom... sister is hungry...'

Says the little boy just playing around in front of the house to his mom... mom is mixing up flour, preparing for your cake business tomorrow. Mom also stops for a while and rush in the kitchen, wash hands and reach the wok to fulfill her child's request...

The pot is achieved and the oil is heated. Mom also broke the egg and waited for the egg to cook even though it was sprinkled by hot oil In the meantime, mom warms up rice because she wants to serve sister's food with fried eggs, hot rice and sweet sauce.

′′ Ouch..."

′′ Why mom?"

′′ It's okay, I'm getting into hot oil just now, I'm having rice wap..."

Let Her Go is catchy with a little bit of sadness in its melody. REALLY LOVE the lyrics saying only you need the light when it's burning low, only miss the sun when it starts to snow, only know you love her when you let her go and only know you've been high when you're feeling low.

I believe everyone understands and experienced "only know/cherish something when you let go of such something," but not many are able to know or cherish right at the moment.
Looking back, we realize that it is far from not having something. Instead, it is not realizing we indeed own such something.
To make matters worse, even we know what we have, we still think that we will never lose it,
and we would like finally and suddenly waking up to realize the once love and happiness.

What should we do for those gone, you may ask.
Well, live like not losing, but at least having each other for a certain period of time!
Remember the storms and waves that we have experienced together and those laughters and tears we've been through and live like those memories are embedded in our journey.
Most important of all, try to cherish every tiny pieces of your world now and do not take those insignificant parts for granted. Cheers for those coming and those still in your hearts =]

Something I’ve been doing aside from music...(and about two million other small things) - waring my ex-partner’s granny handmade floor mats. Miss Cakap Banyak Diary Ep. 37 is of today’s visit at Mama’s workstation.

Went over to pass her the cash I collected from past two day's sale of #Mamamats (something I promote from my personal page, not here) and to see if she has other pieces of mats that I could add onto the sales pile for tomorrow's round of drive-by-shopping.

I cannot imagine my pad without her handmade floor mats, or sleeping without her patchwork blanket. It's part of my home, and always a thrill to know that many people's homes now have Mama's handiwork too :)

Do drop me a message if you're keen to buy these mats, while stock last - till she gets the next batch of mats out in my hands. BTW - if you have old cloth material, cloth to get rid off, Mama would have use for it :) Get in touch with me.

While I wait around for my show bookings to come in again - this is my business for now :)

People all over the world were brainwashed by the song, and the shopping platform Pinduoduo from China even got the copyright of the song to make it into the theme song for the brand.

We now still have to follow certain rules because of the COVID-19 and one of the most impacted things would be not being allowed to get together with friends and have to keep the social distancing.
