About 13 years ago, I left Toronto on a not so great note. It was the dead of winter when I wanted out of my partying life. I was feeling aimless, feeling hopeless and even asked my sister to help pay for a flight out because I was already broke. Although I can’t say that I ever took the steps to take my life but I will say that not wanting to be in this world were thoughts that took up a lot of real estate in my mind. It was probably the lowest I ever felt in my life.

Prior to that, I remember making a trip out to Malaysia and something felt right about this place. I ran away from my own demons to forge a new life for myself. I could finally escape my own reality and make something of myself.

I felt saved in many ways. Not all of us are lucky and sometimes the voices in our head will drown out the love everyone has for you despite how much you know how much they care— your pain still hurts more. We are all struggling in our own ways and the shame we carry keeps us stuck from taking the next step.

On #worldsuicidepreventionday I hope whoever is struggling will be able to speak to someone. I know it’s scary and it feels like the darkest of days, but I promise light will come and it will be worth living.

Today I honour dear Rita Pita. We always had the best times and even better times when we would go to the supermarket and then head back fo yours for more giggles. I wish there was more time in the world for you. I hope you’ve found your peace and you will live in all of our hearts forever. ❤️

This is also my entry to the #worldwatercolormonth2021 ! I will not be doing all the prompts, but let' say that this piece is for the "faithful" prompt. This car certainly looks like it's faithful, alright.

When we were still living outside of Tokyo, near Enoshima, on our way to the supermarket, we would always walk by a shop that was fixing and restoring old (mostly European) cars! I took a lot of photos of very interesting vehicles there! When I want to paint something a bit different from my usual landscapes, I often go for the cars folder. ;)

There are also high-end electronics and casual clothes.
The restaurant floor in the basement has fast food for families and young people, as well as a supermarket.
The restaurant on the fourth floor is a great place for a relaxed family meal or a quiet place for a couple to enjoy conversation and a meal.

For this video, we went down to Fairprice Xtra at Parkway Parade to EAT A MASSIVE SUPERMARKET Feast! Been a while since I've done something like that and this Fairprice Xtra has a new concept where there is an in-house kitchen, dining area, cocktail bar & coffee shop.

The kitchen managed by Bantong Seafood, will cook any fresh food you select in the store and cook it for you on the spot. They also have a fixed menu for you to choose from, ranging from Fish & Chips to Fried Rice.

For my challenge, I ordered a host of items from the fixed menu together with fresh food like a whole fish that was gutted and cooked for me and a premium snow-aged Wagyu steak.

The standout dishes would be the snow aged Wagyu Steak and Hybrid Grouper. The steak was wonderfully marbled and extremely appealing to the eye. Bantong seared it expertly to medium rare while basting it in butter. It was very sweet and tender, almost like butter with meaty notes. Even eating the fatty parts of the ribeye was amazing, truly melting in your mouth.

The Hybrid Grouper is actually a specially bred breed of grouper by Singapore's own aquaculture company, Apollo Marine. It was thick and full of plump meaty flesh. Steamed whole and dressed in a Chinese-style soy dressing, each mouthful of fish was bursting with flavour.

I do recommend trying their chicken poppers as well, deep fried to perfection with a nice sweet & savoury glazed on the exterior.
