Hell, it’s okay if you don’t even know what your dream is yet. Even if you’re flipping burgers, waiting tables or answering phones today, you never know where you’ll end up tomorrow.

Never tell yourself you’re too old to make it.
Never tell yourself you missed your chance.
Never tell yourself that you aren’t good enough.
You can do it. Whatever it is.

Irene Cheow whom I have worked with on our nation Figure Skating development via visual documentation on & off ice, imprinted the idea & the motto of “Never Try Never Know”. Taking her son - Julian Yee qualification as a testament that with goal in sight, any thing is indeed possible & if I do manage to obtain an Olympic photog credential, we’ll meet half way.

The past four months has been emotionally excruciating & mentally exhausting in terms of getting constant NOs in repetitive form, emails ignored, emails return yet with more pinned down incapabilities of me as an individual moreover as an independent photographer.

That’s when I actually screen shotted the message from the photog who told me I have absolute ZERO chances. Nothing against him/her really, but to look past the discrimination and highlight the key points of what I should do to prepare myself for Beijing 2022 instead.

I begin to ponder, to contemplate.. is passion & hard work enough all along ? Or is it meeting the right people on the right time ?

As a spectator took this photo of me today, let it be a reminder that in spite of all, I take it as a motivation, in spite of the voices anchoring me down, I’M HERE ! Not that I made it, but yet a stepping stone with more trials & error to overcome. To be courteous & humble, moreover proud to be one of the 4 Malaysians photog & 1st female Malaysian photog to capture the hearts & soul of our nations debut in the #WinterOlympics #PyeongChang2018

As the count down to the prestigious game continues, I gave myself a deadline to any appeal, concludes on 31st January 2018, & after that is okay, accept the fact. Work hard towards the next four years for the next #WinterOlympics, & perhaps by then.. more Malaysian qualify figure skaters, speed skater or even the national hockey team will made it to Beijing 2022.

Yet it all changes when the appeal went through on 2 February 2018, an exact a week to the Opening Ceremony of PyeongChang 2018.

The 25 minute speech I gave at the 2017 PMI Congress ;) 22nd November 2017, in Ocean Park Hong Kong. I believe recognizing an athlete's achievements is just as important as knowing the story behind them. That's why I spent a lot of time preparing for this speech because I hope to share my most honest words/unique experiences & how this past few months have changed my perspective. Unfortunately I have missed Olympic trials because of my ankle injury, I felt defeated because Olympics was my dream, just like every other athlete's dream to compete at the highest level of their sport, & I was only one step away. My world seemed to have collapsed, but during my recovery I have learned to change my views on becoming more positive. I have been back to skating recently & feel great to do what I love again?Gliding through the ice I am home again. It has been a tough few months, but after fighting through it, I am thankful for my life, all the experiences & opportunities giving me a chance to learn something new everyday. Pressure is pleasure, it is all about how to view your life. MAY YOU CREATE YOUR OWN HAPPINESS, BY THE WAY YOU VIEW YOUR WORLD!!!!
