ย้อนกลับไปเมื่อปี 2018 ที่มีรายงานว่า Metroid Prime Trilogy เกม Metroid Prime ไตรภาคจาก Retro Studios เวอร์ชันพอร์ตมาลงให้กับ Nintendo Switch ได้ขึ้นในหน้าร้านค้า Inet และ Best Buy ที่เป็นการบอกใบ้ว่า ตัวเกมอาจจะประกาศเปิดตัวอย่างเป็นทางการใน The Game Awards ปีนั้น

น่าเสียดายที่ไม่มีการประกาศเปิดตัวใดๆ ของเกมนี้ แต่ก็มีข่าวลือตามมาว่า ทาง Nintendo ได้พัฒนา Metroid Prime Trilogy บน Nintendo Switch เสร็จเรียบร้อยนานแล้ว แต่กำลังรอเวลาที่เหมาะสมในการประกาศอยู่

ล่าสุด ทาง Inet เจ้าเดิม ก็ได้ทำการอัปเดตหน้าร้านค้า Metroid Prime Trilogy เวอร์ชัน Nintendo Switch พร้อมระบุว่า ตัวเกมจะวางจำหน่ายในวันที่ 19 มิ.ย. ที่จะถึงนี้

ก่อนหน้านี้ทาง Nintendo ได้มีการประกาศเปิดตัว Paper Mario: The Origami King ที่ในช่วงท้ายของวิดีโอเปิดตัว มีการบอกใบ้ถึง Metroid ด้วย

ซึ่งถ้าข่าวลือนี้เป็นความจริง เท่ากับว่าวันวางจำหน่ายของ Metroid Prime Trilogy จะถูกประกบไปด้วย Xenoblade Chronicles ที่จะวางจำหน่ายในวันที่ 29 พ.ค. และ Paper Mario: The Origami King ที่จะวางจำหน่ายในวันที่ 17 ก.ค. เรียกได้ว่าชาวคอนโซลฝั่งแดงเสียเงินกัน 3 เดือนรวด
