前兩天發的Q姐升學文章意外獲得廣大迴響，沒想到這麼多人對英國的教育有興趣。 因應今天是928教師節，我決定再來詳細解釋一些比較多人提出的疑問，希望對教育話題沒興趣的朋友不要轉台，明天就回歸育兒或裝修或精品了（誤）

首先，文章中提到英國很多小朋友為了準備11+中學升學考，從國小三年級、四年級就請英文/數學家教的大有人在。有網友問：「已經住在英國了，還要請英文家教嗎？就像住台灣請中文家教？」 網友提出的這個問題，我知道絕對沒有惡意，一定很多人都有相同的疑問。 簡單來說，英國的英文考試並不像台灣的國小或國中英文，著重在英文單字/句型/文法；當然這裡的考試也有包含上述幾項，但難度更高更艱深，而且佔比不重。 英國的英文考試，最難的項目在於 #閱讀理解 Reading Comprehension 和 #寫作 Creative Writing or Composition這兩大部分。 其中閱讀理解真的是大魔王，不只要看懂、理解、難的考題甚至還要進一步分析。 用一個更具體的比喻，就好比我們台灣考國文一樣，要看懂理解文言文或古詩，這個要拿高分就有一定的難度了。

所以話題轉回來，如果是英國本地人，在準備考試時也會補英文或是請英文家教嗎？ 答案是肯定的。 當然，如果父母有辦法自己摸索或自己教就自己教、沒辦法就只好外包請老師教。我和DDC的英文都並非第一語言，Q姐的英文程度老早就超越我們，所以英文這考科我們完全舉手投降，就幫她找個家教輔助一下。 而且一般來說啊，數學反而是比較容易在短時間內靠刷題或大量練習而進步的科目，英文則是要考長時間的培養，所以 #從小閱讀習慣養成 是非常非常重要的，沒有大量閱讀，上述的閱讀理解和寫作能力真的會很有限！

再來，為什麼我們決定讓Q姐去參加11+考試？ Q姐從四歲多至今一直都是在快樂學習、沒功課（頂多一週一次10分鐘寫完）、沒考試、沒壓力的公立小學就讀。 學校教的內容大致上是跟著全英提供的課綱進度在走（私立小學則是整體超前1-2年）。Q姐從三年級接近四年級開始，學校會依照學習進度和程度來分table，她英文數學一直都是在Top Table，老師也會另外提供更難的試題給她寫； 再加上Q姐自己也很好學，看到難的題目就很興奮，當時我就覺得她適合走「考試」這條路，也許可以挑戰看看去和更多人競爭，目標放在私立中學或是公立重點學校（Grammar school）

我們大可以選擇念不用考試直接分發的公立學校一路到大學，既輕鬆又省錢，陪小孩一起準備考試最累的絕對是爸媽自己。 但我覺得既然現在我們自己還有能力、還有資源、女兒也願意的情況之下，何不讓她嘗試看看自己的潛力可以被開發到哪裡？ 能夠在這個年紀，在不是強壓硬逼的情況之下，慢慢學習處理壓力的能力也是不錯的。 經過這次準備考試的過程，Q姐也知道原來世界這麼大，在英國其他學校、其他區域，存在著更厲害、更優秀、更努力更用功的同儕們。

更何況，以前我考不好還擔心被媽媽罵、考不理想還會被說「一定是妳還不夠用功。」 、到了國中升學期間只能把學了好多年的鋼琴停掉，專心準備聯考。 對比現在，Q姐寫習題寫不好我卻得想法子安撫她的玻璃心，常常都在調整腳步，怕自己給她太大壓力； 音樂、運動部分還是持續在走 (現在她每周都組隊和其他學校打Netball英國女子籃球)，不用為了課業放棄。

「這個年頭的父母，比考生還不好當呀！ ！」

最後，有網友想看看英國11+中學升學考究竟在考些什麼？ 其實每間學校的考題、題型、考科都不盡相同，但主要準備的大方向就是四個項目：英文、數學、NVR圖像推理邏輯、VR文字推理邏輯。

Ramen has always been one of the most comforting food in the whole wide world. This cult-like culture of making a great ramen has spread widely in the past 30 years. This is a documentary of how a ramen was made and how the professional chefs work in their kitchen.

一整天的觀察下來，儘管只是短短一天，即使只是一碗麵，都能深刻感受拉麵的魔力以及值得傾注心力的原因。對於我們客人而言，只是三十分鐘的晚餐時間，但對於背後付出心力的店家來說，就是日複一日、年復一年的堅持。

五之神拉麵主打濃郁的蝦風味，但這並不影響奧山主廚創作自己心中想要的拉麵。對他來說拉麵有趣的就是沒有過多的規則限制，只要抓出想要的方向，就能大膽的實驗，就算是定番料理，都能依靠日月累積的經驗做出細微的調整。

製作過程中我注意到每到達一個階段，不可忽略的就是試吃，確認味道符合心中設定的味道。使用的食材毫不馬虎，用量也絕對沒有在客氣。你會驚訝於店家所使用的食材量是多麽的驚人，但這就是一般人無法做出相同味道的關鍵之一，平時常聽到許多老闆掛在嘴邊說「用料不敷成本」，在今天我眼見為憑。

一碗好吃的拉麵，關鍵在於時間。任何一個小環節，都需要花時間。熬一份美味的雞白湯，起跳就是4小時，才能達到膠質口感，讓湯頭完美的乳化。提取石斑魚風味進入油脂當中，費時2小時。準備熬煮醬汁所需要的鮮味淡高湯，24小時。前置準備越充裕，才能在客人面前看起來輕鬆自在，但其實所有的費盡苦心與汗水，都隱藏在小小的門簾之後。

我很好奇地問了奧山師傅，在台灣認識了什麼日本沒有的在地食材，想要用在拉麵當中？他的回答是有趣的「沙茶醬」，如果未來回到日本開拉麵店，他會在他的湯頭當中添加沙茶醬，放一點點就會是很棒的味道。

另外，他也推薦下次去東京玩的時候，可以拜訪一間專賣河豚拉麵的店「八代目keisuke」，是他心中認為非常有意思，也會想一去再去的好店。

這次五之神製麵所得拉麵之旅收穫良多，希望我能吸收這次的經驗，做出一碗我自己相當滿意，也同樣美味好吃的日本拉麵。

之前在Totoro IG有提到過Totoro生病了。
媽媽其實在今年過年的時候就剪了影片想記錄這件事，
沒想到一拖就拖到現在了。
這幾天終於增增減減上字幕做出了這個影片，當作個小紀錄吧！
Totoro生病的來龍去脈紀錄如下(文章超級長XD)

Totoro在去年10月底確診了腎衰竭。
他在去年9月底的時候先是精神不好，體重下降，水喝異常多，沒多久右腳莫名的腫起來，但是完全沒有外傷。
因為腫起的右腳有戴腳環，醫生和我們一開始都懷疑是不是在哪邊勾到拉扯到造成的，先做了基礎糞檢後吃藥觀察。
之後雖然他精神好轉了，但腳還是一直沒有好，甚至開始長出一顆小白點。
最後在醫生建議下做了抽血檢查，並對小白點做細針採樣。
結果出來，他的尿酸指數飆高到正常值的五倍多，小白點檢驗結果是尿酸的結晶，確診為腎衰竭。醫生說，看過這麼多玄鳳都很難看到一隻有這麼誇張的尿酸指數。
原來他的右腳無外傷莫名腫起，是尿酸堆積造成的痛風。
我們不停的想，是什麼原因造成的呢？

和醫生討論後，原因可能是因為他一直無法斷奶，主食一直以來都是靠人工餵鳥奶粉。而一般鳥奶粉是幼鳥用，蛋白質含量較高，長期下來對腎臟造成負擔。

他為什麼無法斷奶呢？
這個也是快五年以來一直困擾著我們的問題。他小時候一個月大左右，曾經生病不吃飯，體重只剩下瀕危的50幾克。那時媽媽先咬牙學著用軟管少量多餐灌食維持營養，甚至半夜都要爬起來餵，慢慢的讓他胖到70多克，精神體力也好很多。
當他看似恢復健康有精神，我們想讓他自己開始學吃時，卻發現他的體重會無法維持。每當掉到66克左右像是病鳥的體重，我們就不敢再繼續嘗試下去，而把奶量加回來，他的體重也才回升。
找了愛吃鬼同伴吃的津津有味給他看也沒用﹙望向咕嘰快100g的胸肌…﹚，只要我們想嘗試減量，他就會漸漸消瘦。
曾經看過醫生，檢查便便嗉囊無異常，詢問了這個狀況開怎麼處理。醫生說就只能盡量找方法讓他自己吃，但體重掉太誇張的話也只能再補奶。
Totoro一直以來除了這個問題之外，就是個活潑亂跳皮到不行的小鬼頭，所以我們在他約兩三歲的時候漸漸放棄了嘗試，現在非常後悔於自己的無知和短視。以前總想著，等有時間要來想辦法讓他斷奶，就算要我一顆一顆餵他也行。結果等有時間的時候已經來不及了。
一開始知道這個消息真的很崩潰，就像聽到作為我避風港的家人得到絕症般，每天看著他自責懊悔著。甚至跟老天許願，只要他多活一年，我就願意減一年性命給他。那陣子幾乎沒法好好做自己的事，只想照顧他，陪著他，心情跟著他的病況時好時壞的起伏著。
腎臟病是不可逆的，所以只能給他做支持治療，打輸液、吃降尿酸和止痛藥。
飲食方面醫生建議既然他自己沒法吃飽，就把幼鳥奶粉換成一般滋養丸，選擇蛋白質含量不要太高的打成粉泡給他吃。
前兩三個月我們幾乎每天跑醫院讓醫生給他打皮下輸液，因為他的指數雖然有下降，但還是一直沒有回到正常值之內。
看著他每次打完針腳濕濕毛亂亂的，心情很差的樣子，就會跟著很難過，
那陣子上網查了許多鳥類腎臟病的照護，隨著抽血結果不停調整尋找著適合他的飲食。
記得是在過年前左右，Totoro的指數第一次降到正常範圍內。
雖然是在及格邊緣，但還是超級開心。而我後來也跟醫生學了打輸液的方法，才大大減少了跑醫院的次數。
到現在Totoro維持著定期血檢，指數還是在邊緣上上下下的。我們根據血檢照醫生建議調整著輸液次數，也微調著飲食。
腎臟病很麻煩，給他太多營養怕他代謝不掉，但不給營養又不行，我們只能在中間小心翼翼地尋找著平衡點。
他的尿酸指數降下來後，血檢結果變成營養不良，我們嘗試著微量增加餵食濃度後尿酸又貌似會跟著增高。於是現在就維持著較低濃度的滋養丸奶，持續著每天的輸液和吃藥來達到不完全平衡但可以接受的狀態。
一方面也盡量讓他自己吃穀物，這隻雞上輩子大概是太上皇，一定要有人陪在旁邊才會願意自己吃，鳥奴們只好定時盯著他陪他吃飯。
他的精神活力現在大部份都還是很好，還是很愛磨屁屁，心情好的時候喜歡跳舞唱歌學狗叫。看著他狀況穩定，雖然血檢結果仍上上下下著，心也漸漸寬了下來。
他也讓我們學到，與其每天懊悔過去，擔心未來，珍惜現在擁有的每一刻才是最重要的。

Totoro，再來要去哪裡玩呢？



Totoro was diagnosed with kidney failure in last October, and he has gout thus his right foot is swelling.

We were nearly devastated when hearing about the news, and tried to think why he’ll have such a disease. Maybe it’s because he’d never really successfully weaning and were fed with baby parrot hand feed formula since he was born (That was a long story, he couldn’t sustain his light-already weight and eat by himself if we stop hand feeding him).
We’re having regular subcutaneous fluids and medicines to support his kidney function for almost one year until now.
Although his urid acid level is still lingering between normal and abnormal value, he is having rather stable condition in recent months, dancing and singing when he has a good mood.
The video was shoot after Totoro’s diagnosis.
Totoro teaches us that, it is better to cherish the moment we have than regret over past decision or worry what might happen in the future.
