Just another Sunday of unstoppable alarm snoozes // Had such a fulfilling & scrumptious breakfast at Yut Kee. This place has been serving traditional Hainanese fare since 1928 and it’s currently being operated by the restaurant’s third-generation owner. It’s super spacious, although it’s super busy all day, but our dining experience there was pretty comfortable.
What we’ve tried:
We had the Stir-fried Hailam Mee, Chicken Chop, Pork Chop and Roti Babi (Pork-filled pastry). The gravy for both the pork/chicken chops didn’t taste artificial. Oh, we are so glad that the meat weren’t covered with thick breadcrumbs, but rather soaked up with the gravy instead. A very hearty breakfast indeed lol! Their Hailam Mee took us by surprise too haha. Cooked with pork, squid, fishcake and vegetables, it may be prepared dryer than the usual Hailam Mee you get outside, but still it’s packed with the right punch of flavours.
Moving onto the Roti Babi, the bread is slightly chewy packed with fillings of shredded and ground pork, chines sausage, onions and crabmeat - irresistible of course haha!
All in all, the food mentioned above tasted fairly good but the food served were barely in warm condition (Okay probably because of the picture-taking and all that happened *my fault sigh*), The serving speed was pretty damn fast, it’s quite obvious that the food were being prepared & cooked in bulk. There’s prolly a work assembly-line style happening in the kitchen for faster food preparation, but anyway I don’t mind, it’s a good thing as we didn’t have to wait in line just to wait for a long time for our food. What I don’t understand is the sizeable crowd waiting to dine at this place, hmmm probably it’s something that I will need to find out again in my second visit??? Hmmmm
Will definitely return to try their Roast Pork Special only available at 9AM on Fri, Sat & Sun only) Too bad we were too early, but oh well there’s always next time 😋😋😅
