Alan Wu, the general manager of Great Mold Industry, he kindly introduced and shared his experience in production of mold industry for Makerpro community. He pointed out that the mold industry is going to the trend of small-volume production and the wide range of different items. Unlike a few years ago the mobile phone was mostly large amount orders, the current order of maker and startups are small volume and wide range production. And mostly introduced by friends and trusted vendors.
From design to molding, the whole process starts from industrial design takes about 30 days, then spend 30 days at mechanical design, then mold making for another two weeks, and finally, it takes 2 weeks for the plastic injection.
