For 10 days, the cast who auditioned and got called back to participate in an intensive workshop learned singing techniques, Malay and Javanese dance technique, filosofi Jawa, silat, stage acting basics etc etc at @enfinitiacademy. We had a combination of performing arts students, professional stage actors, dancers, singers, award winning TV stars etc etc. I was really impressed to see how willing each of them were to improve themselves and learn new techniques. Bravo👏🏻
From this workshop, the trainers and creative team could tell siapa yang betul betul dedicated, also the stage management were taking notes on discipline and timeliness. The goal is to end up with a solid ensemble of actors who would be good energy to be with on a long journey.
We started out with a bigger group of actors, but along the way we had to drop a few people, some who were my friends too - setelah dah cuba berikan beberapa watak berlainan, unfortunately we just couldn't see how to fit them in 🥺
As for the creative team and myself, we worked on exploring scene edits, discussed hew music arrangements, corrected javanese dialogue, and got this fabulous cast to run each scene so we could see the flow and the potential. That's so, so helpful for a director, bersyukur sangat dapat team pelakon yang begitu komited.
