【Second day of the Lunar New Year - 車公誕🚗🚕🚙】 Today is the Birthday of Che Kung, a military commander of Southern Song Dynasty in China. The birthday of Che Kung （車公誕) falls on the 2nd day of the Lunar New Year (大年初二).
Rural representatives also gather in the temple every year and draw a prophecy for Hong Kong and ShaTin.
The Rural chief, Lau Ip-keung, drew stick 45 this year. He translated the omen and said
“Every move of the government is important. It must launch decisive, accurate, and timely measures. It is the best to regard peace as an important thing in politics. The government should solve the problem of public discontent by launching soft policy.” (Source: the standard)
In past years, hundred of thousands of people visit the Che Kung Temple on these few days to worship Che Kung. We also turn the fan-bladed wheel of fortune and beat the drum in the temple to ensure good luck in the coming year plus get a handmade windwheel for a smooth year!
