Leica Classic Store: Vintage products, expertly serviced
Leica photographers in search of cameras and lenses from any era now have access to a safe and regulated trading platform: the Leica Classic Store enables customers to buy and sell vintage and second-hand cameras while benefiting from the on-site services provided by Leica Customer Care. The first Leica Classic Store has been open since early October at the Leica Camera headquarters in Wetzlar, Germany and is intended to be followed by many more worldwide.

What ’s the rarest Leica ever? It could be this Leica Luxus II, a limited edition gold plated version of the 1932 Leica II, the first screw-mount Leica with a built-in coupled rangefinder. According to the factory only 4 Luxus IIs were ever made. The one pictured, serial number 88840 with a gold finished 50mm f/3.5 Elmar lens, sold in Hong Kong in 2013 for a cool $624,015 including the original crocodile case. The whereabouts of the other 3 are unknown. If one turns up at your local garage sale, chances are it’s a fake, but hey, you never know!
