“...Jesus said, “Most certainly I tell you, there is no one who has left house, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or land, for my sake, and for the sake of the Good News, but he will receive one hundred times more now in this time, houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and land, with persecutions; and in the age to come eternal life.” (Mark 10:28-30 WEB)
When God restores you, He wants you to receive and enjoy it “now in this time”—during this mortal lifetime, not when you are in Heaven.
“I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of Yahweh in the land of the living.” (Psalms 27:13 WEB)
Religion has robbed believers of the confident expectation to see God’s goodness in the land of the living.
They say that God’s blessings are only spiritual, and that you cannot expect to be healthy, young, wealthy, or healed. They say, be content with your lot—endure the hardships and you will finally enjoy when you get to Heaven.
This is contradictory to what Jesus said. It is an easy excuse to tell, to justify all those people who prayed and did not get what they believed for. But we don’t lower our expectations based on the experience of others—we don’t know the full story.
One thing I know is that I believe Jesus’ words. I am not going to lower my expectations based on man’s opinions. I will trust the wonderful promises in God’s word!
SURELY I will see the goodness of God in the land of the living!
