Proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ
“For what the law couldn’t do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh; that the ordinance of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” (Romans 8:3-4 WEB)
Is your conscience still shouting at you, saying that you have to pay for your sins? That’s called an evil conscience—one that doesn’t recognize that the blood Jesus shed at the cross has already perfectly paid for all our sins.
The passage above shows God’s Grace towards us. Because no mortal man can keep the Law perfectly, God the Father sent His Son Jesus to keep it perfectly on our behalf, even to the point of dying our death—since the wages of sin is death.
The sins of the world were all laid upon Jesus’ body at the cross and God condemned (punished) them by pouring out fiery wrath upon Jesus’ flesh.
Our sins have all been fully judged in the body of our sinless, perfect atoning sacrifice for sins.
By placing our faith in Jesus, we are accepting Him to be our sin offering—the perfect Lamb of God who takes away all our sins by one sacrifice for all-time.
Sin can only be forgiven when a death occurs. God’s justice demands it.
Sin came into the world by the disobedience of one man, so it must also be a man (a kinsman redeemer) who redeems mankind and the earth from the bondage of sin.
Since God didn’t want us to die for our sins, He sent Jesus to die in our place, and what a worthy death it was!
If you knew the value of Jesus, you will know that your sin debt is surely paid in full.
Through His own death, Jesus righteously redeemed us who believe in Him, as well as this earth, from the bondage of sin and death.
Now we are just waiting for the completion of the times so that we will see this redemption fulfilled during the Millennium and beyond.
We will be in our glorified bodies, immune to the ravages of sin and death, and Jesus will be ruling as King from Jerusalem, residing in the earth which He owns the title deed to.
If anyone tells you to keep the Law today, tell them that you already kept it perfectly through Jesus: you were sinful, so you offered up Jesus as your sin offering and His death paid your entire sin debt in full.
When you first placed your faith in Jesus as your Lord, you were also united in Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection so you are no longer under the Law.
Death has freed you from the obligations of the Old Covenant.
Now you are under the New Covenant of Grace which has been put into effect by Jesus’ shed blood.
You don’t need to obey the Law of Moses anymore.
As a child of God, you follow the royal law of love in complete freedom with no threat of judicial punishment.
These new laws which apply to you are: 1) Believe in Jesus Christ whom the Father has sent, 2) Love one another as Jesus has loved you.
These laws have been written in your spiritual heart by the Holy Spirit—embedded deeply in your reborn self. You don’t have to be taught to love—you want to love because you want to do what is pleasing to God.
That’s God’s seed (like a spiritual DNA) producing in you the desire and ability to do good works.
Servants follow the Law of Moses which demands them to abstain from sin.
Sons follow the leading of the Holy Spirit which produces the desire and ability to walk in love. This exceeds demands of the Law.
Servants obey and do to avoid punishment. Sons believe and speak to receive life and life more abundantly.
Can you see that you’ve entered a far better covenant? The benefits are all for you to enjoy whereas the price for these benefits to be possible was completely paid-for by Jesus.
This covenant is so flawless and beautiful because receiving the blessings has nothing to do with your obedience, but has everything to do with Jesus’ perfect obedience at the cross.
This means it’s full-proof. You can never lapse on this covenant and once you’re in it, there’s no way you can be removed from this covenantal relationship.
If it depended on you, your name would be blotted out from the Book of Life many times a day.
Thankfully because it depends solely upon Jesus, your name has always been in the book and will never be blotted out.

The Name “Wonderful”
“Then Manoah said to the Angel of the LORD, “What is Your name, that when Your words come to pass we may honor You?” And the Angel of the LORD said to him, “Why do you ask My name, seeing it is wonderful?”” (Judges 13:17-18 NKJV)
Yahweh took the form of an angel, appeared to Manoah and revealed His name as “Wonderful”.
The prophet Isaiah prophesied that “Wonderful” would be born to mankind. As a Man He was born and as a Son of God, He was given to us.
“For to us a child is born. To us a son is given; and the government will be on his shoulders. His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, on David’s throne, and on his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from that time on, even forever. The zeal of Yahweh of Armies will perform this.” (Isaiah 9:6-7 WEB)
This child “Wonderful” is destined to rule on David’s throne forever. He has been given the authority already, but then fulfillment of it will be in the future.
The following passage almost mirrors the one above. It reveals the name of the child who is called “Wonderful”.
“Behold, you will conceive in your womb, and give birth to a son, and will call his name ‘Jesus.’ He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father, David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever. There will be no end to his Kingdom.”” (Luke 1:31-33 WEB)
His name is “Jesus”. In the original Hebrew, “Yeshuah”.
Now we know who “Wonderful” is. This word in the Hebrew, “pele” has the meaning of miraculous signs and wonders too. Miracles happen in Jesus’ name.
He is also Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace.
Counselor: through His Spirit, Jesus is our parakletos (in Greek), the one who is close enough to our situation to make a judgment call.
He helps us in all situations in our life, and is our defense lawyer when the devil tries to accuse us based on false evidence.
Mighty God: Jesus is God. He is not just a Man—He is both God and Man.
Everlasting Father: As Creator of all things, Jesus is our Father—He made us. As Man, He is our Bridegroom. As God, He is our Father.
Prince of Peace: Peace is what characterizes Jesus’ kingdom. He is not the author of chaos or confusion. Wherever Jesus’ reign is established, there is peace—wholeness, love, health, freedom and no lack in any way.
This Christmas, as we remember Jesus’ birth, let’s not stop there. His birth as a Man showed His commitment to save us, but it was His death that actually saved us.
Through faith in Him, He has become Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace to us!

No One is Saved by Default
“So then as through one trespass, all men were condemned; even so through one act of righteousness, all men were justified to life. For as through the one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the one, many will be made righteous.”” (Romans 5:18-19 WEB)
Those who believe that Jesus’ death at the cross paid for everyone’s sins and therefore everyone is saved whether they place their faith in Him or not, often point to the passage above to support their view.
They would say that “all men are justified to life.”
Actually the context is important. Look at the verse after that. It says “many”—not “all” will be made righteous.
Therefore what the apostle Paul meant is that everyone who is born is condemned because of Adam’s sin, and there is only one way for every person—no matter who he/she is, to be saved, and that is by faith in Jesus and His finished work at the cross.
Everyone who wants to be justified to life can only receive it through Jesus’ atoning sacrifice at the cross—not through obedience to the Law, other pagan gods, or an abundance of good works.
“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.” (John 14:6 WEB)
Paul was just agreeing with Jesus’ own words. There is no way to eternal life with God except through faith in Jesus Christ—He is the way, the truth and the life.
Is there a Hell and an eventual lake of fire torment for sinners?
Yes, although Jesus did carry all the sins of the world upon Himself at the cross and was punished for every sin, that payment is only credited to those who place their faith in Him as Lord.
If they choose not to accept that payment, God respects their free will, but they will still have to pay for all their sins in full—an eternity in the lake of fire still cannot purge away that immense sin debt.
That’s why the following verse still calls these sinners by their individual sins:
“But for the cowardly, unbelieving, sinners, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their part is in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”” (Revelation 21:8 WEB)
If the only sin that God can punish sinners for is unbelief in Jesus, then John wouldn’t call them by their individual sins. He would have just said “the unbelieving”.
Paul and John don’t contradict each other. Both agree that many will be made righteous through faith in Jesus, but those who remain unbelievers will spend an eternity paying for their sins in the lake of fire.
Jesus affirms this truth as well—there are sheep (believers) and goats (unbelievers). They each have different eternal fates. Believers enjoy eternal life, while unbelievers are destined for eternal torment in the lake of fire:
“Then he will say also to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels;...These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”” (Matthew 25:41, 46)
Jesus the Son of God became a Man not because He has no choice—He could have stayed as Yahweh in Heaven, forgetting about mankind and creating a new race of creature who would obey Him perfectly.
It is easy for Him to create—just speak.
But He chose to set aside His divine glory, to suffer the most cruel torture and humiliating death on earth just to redeem you and me.
Jesus’ love for you kept Him hanging on that cross, loving you until the very end, when every trace of sin had been completely punished in full.
If you don’t receive Him as your Lord, then you’re just trampling on His sacrifice for you, having made Him suffer needlessly for your sins.
So how to be saved? It’s simple:
“that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10 WEB)
You only need to believe that the Gospel is true and confess that Jesus is your Lord. The moment you do that, you pass from death into eternal life, being born-again in your spirit to become a new creation in Christ.
Take note that many times the New Testament scriptures refer to your spiritual ears, heart, eyes and mouth.
Your body is not you—you are the spirit living inside the body (your earthly tent).
For those who are mute, language-impaired, in a coma or on their deathbed who are so physically weak that they can’t speak, in their eternal spirit they can still confess Jesus as Lord with their spiritual mouth and believe in their spiritual heart to receive salvation.
