Felt is my choice material. By using the felt needle sculpting method, I meticulously shape my work into its final configuration.
Due to the unique condition and density of each batch of felt, every piece of work is unique and unable to be replicated.
There is a story or motivation behind each piece of Mo’s work. Starting from appreciating the adorable appearances, viewers will gradually establish an emotional connection to and understanding for the work. Her work is non-gender specific. They have no eyes, nor mouth. This represents her insatiable curiosity in all aspects of human life and her insistence on free thinking. There is tender sensibility underneath the adorable appearance.
Her inspiration springs from the experience of daily life, ordinary yet human. Her work is quiet, but humorous. She seeks to initiate a dialogue between her work and the viewers. The adorable appearances of her work first attract viewers’ attention and then afford a sense of enjoyment or reflection. Viewers are drawn to take a closer look at her work and allow it to ignite their own imagination to find out what a particular work means to them personally.
The texture, shape, expression, and colors enable Mo’s work to transcend their seemingly simple visual effect. She creates with the hope that her allegorical work not only serves as a medium to express herself, but also brings healing and consolation to people‘s souls. Just as her work is a projection of her state of mind, the pattern of the felt fibers seem to reflect the way of the human world. She sincerely hopes that, with a contemplative mind, viewers will be able to discover the beauty, truth, and goodness within each piece of her work and attain a deeper appreciation for the world around us.

I was born in autumn in Taipei.
When I was eight, I threaded the old sewing machine
And made clothes for my doll.
From then on, my infatuation with hand-made craft,
Like the spinning spool pin on my sewing machine,
Has never stopped.
When I was a student and before I got married,
My work has been related to
drawing, sewing, knitting, and textile in the fashion industry.
My first encounter with felt was
In 2005, at a furniture exhibition in Cologne, Germany,
I was irresistibly drawn by the warmth
And naturally irregular shape of felt.
That marked the beginning of my felt creation.
Currently, I work as an interior stylist.
I am also the co-founder of luluuhands.
My first public exhibition will be in January of 2020.
