Hottest wanton mee in Singapore at the moment. Managed to get it within 10 minutes because I was passing there at 7am. It is an authentic HK style wanton mee at half the restaurant price. Overall, it is quite nice though I prefer stronger flavours. I love their wanton made with Kurobuta pork and sea prawns. Nice sambal too. Worth a try if you are in the area and no need to wait long. 🤤 https://johorkaki.blogspot.com/2021/09/632-yishun-chef-kin-hk-wanton-mee-is-it.html

My fav wanton mee in Singapore. Been a fan for nearly 20 years. Their char siew is impeccable but is very hard to get as it is sold out within 2 hours. But, I like their noodles even more - thin like Hong Kong egg noodles, QQ and they use an aromatic sesame oil, soy sauce and lard blend. Michelin guide found them this year when they ventured to Singapore's west.

Located in a quaint coffee shop at Seletar Hills, Cheng Hui 72 Handmade Wanton Noodle is one of my favourite breakfast spots.
Their superb egg noodles take centrestage, which is different from the usual mee-kia. They used to make it on their own, but now they worked with a noodle factory in Singapore to manufacture his noodles according to his requirements. If you have tried his noodles before, you will know that his noodles does not have the alkaline taste.
I like the KL style where the springy noodles are tossed in a black soy sauce, chilli sauce and heaped with fragrant pork lard which gives it the glistening look.

For this video, I headed down to Ah Hwa Roasted Noodle House to do a Dumpling Noodles Challenge! Ah Hwa Roasted Noodle House is a family-owned restaurant located at Bukit Batok that specialises in Wanton/Dumpling Noodles.
Wanton/Dumpling Noodles is a Cantonese dish that has become widespread throughout Southeast Asia, comprising of thin egg noodles tossed in a light sauce and served with wantons (dumplings), leafy greens and char siu. The addition of char siu is unique to the Southeast Asian variants of the dish. My version was served dry with soup on the side, but can be ordered as a bowl of soupy Dumpling Noodles.
At a very affordable cost of $4 per plate of Wanton/Dumpling Noodles, each plate was loaded with fried and boiled dumplings, a generous amount of char siu, bok choy and a nest of noodles coated in a dark and glistening sauce. The noodles were arguably the best part, al-dente, light and springy, and the mixture used in the sauce complemented it wonderfully with a savoury and slightly spicy flavour. I could taste sesame oil and soy sauce used in the sauce, but the owners refused to elaborate on the sauce mixture.
The dumplings were plump and had a good filling-wrapper ratio. Inside, there were chopped up prawns and bits of pork, together with some crunch, possibly in the form of chestnuts. The char siu were plentiful, but they were slightly too sweet and chewy for my taste.
I managed to complete 13 plates of Wanton Noodles at just about 30 minutes and finally did a before-and-after weighing for my challenge, gaining 5kg (66kg to 71kg). It was enjoyable, cheap food and I am pleased to support a family-owned Singaporean business in these trying times.
Head down to Ah Hwa Roasted Noodle House for a cheap and flavourful plate of Wanton Noodles!
