I know how it is
to lie down and weep
at the bottom of pain, next to river of despair, among rocks of shame and regrets.
Trust me
I know how it is
to be afraid of going to sleep and afraid of waking up.
Trust me
I know how it is
to look in the mirror and see only disgust.
Trust me
I know how it is
to slide razor blade on skin because you don’t think you deserve a soft touch.
Trust me
I know how it is
to sit at the edge of your lonely bed
asking death to pick you up by the neck
so you can, at last, be free from the hurt burning in your bones.
But trust me when I say that
You will survive this.
Trust me when I say that
Your biggest breakdown is your greatest breakthrough.
Trust me when I say that
Your legs will learn to walk again,
your eyes will learn to spark again,
your lips will learn to laugh again.
Trust me when I say that
one day you will look back, with a heart stronger than mountain,
you will say:
the worst thing that happened to me is the best thing that happened to me.

You’re so afraid, so brave.
You’re light and darkness colliding into one.

Look at you…
The way you touch the tree
The way you gaze out to sea
The way you hold a daisy between your fingers
I love you.
How can I not?
Look at you…
Dance to the beats of your drumming heart
Wipe tears off your lips, asking life for another kiss
Bandage your knees, taking one more step on trembling legs
Keep your bruised palms up and open, holding both sunshine and rainfall
I love you.
