Your granny may have a stockpile of toilet paper as insurance against another run on the shops, but the #COVID19 pandemic has led to an uptick in more serious cases of hoarding of #PPE, the production of counterfeit face masks and the dissemination of #disinformation! That's why the latest Global Cooperation and Training Framework virtual workshop, which opened today in #Taipei, is focused on combating COVID-19-related crimes. The workshop is being jointly hosted by #Taiwan, the #US, #Japan and #Australia.
Deputy Foreign Minister Chung-kwang Tien stated in his address that the workshop has come just at the right time. As COVID-19 continues to ravage countries around the world, we are once again reminded of the need for concerted global action. Just as #DiseaseKnowsNoBorders, neither does crime. He added that we need to work together to form a #safetynet and serve as a #stabilizingforce in the face of this volatile pandemic.
The event is being held partially online due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
