Apple Daily
After the media, landlords will be the next target
https://hk.appledaily.com/opinion/20210517/BIW343AKIRHSTGFFTVT4Q26I7I/
This is a game of boiling frogs. Protesters and politicians are the first group of people to be snatched. The message is that “only a small number of people” are targeted. The aim is to create a deterrence effect. I won’t go into detail here as there are only so many column inches. Meanwhile, some outspoken media outlets are being sorted out. For example, leading journalists of the mainstream outlet Cable TV (1097.HK) have resigned en masse not long ago, and Bao Choy, a producer of RTHK’s “Hong Kong Connection”, was prosecuted last month.
In the latest incident, the government has frozen Jimmy Lai’s assets, including 71.26 percent of his shares in Apple Daily’s parent company Next Digital (0282.HK), of which he is the major shareholder, as well as his holdings in three other private companies held in local banks.
After sorting out members of the opposition and media outlets that monitor the government, the focus of the game will be shifted to landlords, in similar vein as the Land Reform launched by Mao Zedong in the 1950s that saw the confiscation of landlords’ land.
Having collected in April a plot of land in Kam Sheung Road from CK Asset (1113.HK) and Henderson Land (0012.HK), citing the Land Resumption Ordinance, the government brandished its sword to Sun Hung Kai Properties (0016.HK) and New World Development (0017.HK), seizing from them plots of land in Yuen Long and Fanling this month, on grounds that it needs to build subsidized housing. So Hong Kong’s four biggest property developers have all got their fair share of being targeted, and Yuen Long rural leaders who gained notoriety in 2019 are not spared either.
Offering rewards based on merits is not an approach the current regime adopts. Following the 1967 riots, the British colonial government rewarded rural villages for showing it support during the riots by launching the Small Housing Policy (also known as the “Ding House Policy”) that took effect in December 1972. But rural leaders today will not see a replay of that. In 2019, they went to great lengths to help the authorities. Alas, some ding house landlords have recently been arrested by the Independent Commission Against Corruption, and some other rural villagers have had their ancestral houses seized by the government on grounds of the Land Resumption Ordinance.
Today, the ordinance can be used to target anyone, and no one can figure out the government’s land seizure strategy. The plots collected by the government are not those that have long remained undeveloped but those with clearly laid out development plans. Apparently, what the government is doing has no logic. On the face of it, it occupies the moral high ground, when in fact it may just want to demonstrate its authority.
On the internal side of things, the Hong Kong government and its disciplinary forces are on life support as they have been deprived of their real power. Externally, politicians, the media, businessmen and the rural elite are being targeted. Who will be the next target? Taking reference from the history of certain political party, one may note that there are not only licensed thugs but also unlicensed ones who are active in the underground economy. Who will call the shot after midnight in Hong Kong tomorrow? What do you think?
In the movie “Men Suddenly in Black”, Ninth Uncle and his buddies secretly went to a nightclub, only to be busted by their wives. To help his brothers flee, Ninth Uncle sacrificed himself. In today’s Hong Kong, who is Ninth Uncle? While you guys are having fun, have you ever spared a thought for Ninth Uncle? Or will you be the next Ninth Uncle?

《The Washington Post》:https://wapo.st/2WYGbNc
Hong Kong watchdog absolves police over protest crackdown, dimming prospects of accountability(淡化責任)
//“Everywhere you go, the problem isn’t necessarily that the police do things wrong. They do things wrong everywhere,” said Clifford Stott//
《TIME》:https://bit.ly/2LtlfbM
Hong Kong’s Police Watchdog Largely Exonerates Officers (為警察開脫)and Blames Protesters
//It also repeatedly blamed the protesters for instigating the police response, almost appearing to suggest the demonstrators were also an organized entity trusted with the power to use lethal force to uphold the law.//
《The Telegrpah》:https://bit.ly/3bI1ckF
Hong Kong police probe defends officers right to use force
//A long-awaited watchdog report investigating complaints against the Hong Kong police on Friday largely exonnerated officers’ use of force during last year’s turbulent pro-democracy protests and concluded that the Chinese-ruled city appeared to be getting dragged into an “era of terrorism.”//
《The Guardian》:https://bit.ly/2LxSIBL
Anger as Hong Kong watchdog clears police over protest response
//Stott also posted a George Orwell quote to Twitter and said: “it would seem the release of the IPCC report is part of a wider set of coordinated announcements designed to deliver the new ‘truth’.”//
《BBC》:https://bbc.in/3fStsUG
Hong Kong protests: Police watchdog clears officers over crackdown
//The IPCC did not address allegations of misconduct against individual officers during months of unrest, during which more than 8,000 protestors were arrested.//
《DW News》:https://bit.ly/2zHdkoF
Hong Kong protests: Watchdog clears police of wrongdoing
//Legitimacy in question
Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam described the report as "objective" and "fact-based" during a press conference...However, even before the report's release, experts had cast doubt on its neutrality.//
《AL Jazeera》:https://bit.ly/2LynOsY
Hong Kong police watchdog to release report on protest response
//Credibility questioned:
Anthony Neoh, head of the police watchdog, has said the report did not investigate allegations of misconduct against individual officers.
The credibility of the investigation was dealt a blow in December when a panel of five foreign experts quit from advisory roles to the watchdog because of doubts about its "independent investigative capability".//
Hong Kong police watchdog clears force over protest response
//Speaking in front of a backdrop filled with pictures of violent protests alongside the slogan "The Truth About Hong Kong" on Friday afternoon, Lam described the report as "comprehensive, objective, fact-based and very heavy-weighted".//

(English writing below)
LEARN THE SPIRIT BEHIND SINGAPORE'S PROSPERITY

If after reading this article, you still regard Feng Shui as some nonsensical talk, you are really too superstitious.
I once wrote that due to many factors, I am unable to see everyone who needs me.
There are also people who cannot afford my fees, despite really wanting to meet me.
I have also encountered freeloaders who refuse to spend a single cent, even though they have the money. Some of them are even stingy with their thank-you. 😄
No matter what, whenever I can, I will share my knowledge on my Facebook the methods and mindset to help you transform your Destiny, or even establish a new Destiny.
Whether these are of help to you, will depend on how determined you are to improve yourself.
I have never met this lady reader, but she had been following my Facebook since 2017.
She had participated in several of my book-giving actives and would send me a thank-you message every time after receiving my book.
I wrote a post on 30 March titled "Feng Shui That Closes Up Your Mind". She did what I recommended in the post and wrote me a thank-you message after experiencing positive change.
Post Link: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10157483362244614&set=pb.733924613.-2207520000.1555264407.&type=3&theater
Thank you for her permission to share her message, for the benefit of my readers.
Everyone gets the Destiny they deserve. Our characters determine the Destiny we get. The same Destiny also give birth to the kind of Feng Shui we get.
To change our destiny, to improve our family luck, start from your home Feng Shui and you will see results fast.
We humans are sensory animals. Our moods are easily influenced by our external environment. When we see pretty things, our eyes wil brighten up and we feel happy. When we see ugliness and messiness in a home, our brows would furrow and the dissatisfaction in our hearts will add on the stress we already have.
In short, a happy state of mind makes it easier to attract good luck.
Learn from Singapore! How can a once inconspicuous and dirty country enjoy such prosperity in a short time?
One big reason comes from our clean streets and the constant renewal going on. Mr Lee Kuan Yew had placed heavy emphasis on the cleanliness and order of our country. And there is a huge Feng Shui reason behind.
At that time, Dr Albert Winsemius, Singapore's economic consultant, proposed to our government to turn the notorious foul-smelling Singapore River into a formal sewage system. But the then Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew and other officials refused to admit defeat. Dr Winsemius even wagered that Singapore River would never be able to sustain life.
In 1977, PM Lee Kuan Yew ordered for the cleaning up of Singapore River and Kallang River. He wanted to have clean waters. A promise was made to Dr Winsemius that he would live to see a fish being fished up from Singapore River. This project took 10 years and cost S$170 million, affecting 4000 over people.
On 21 December 1993, on Dr Winsemius's last visit to Singapore, a garoupa was successfully caught from Singapore River. The group joked that there must be a diver who hooked the fish to the fishing line, so as to save Singapore's face.
Let me tell you, this river is the main economic artery to Singapore's prosperity. If this waterway continues to be plagued with garbage, Singapore will never be prosperous, nor have a foot in the international arena. There will also be many fellow countrymen who hold improper jobs.
The outstanding city planning of Singapore had inspired a learning frenzy among China's officials for the past few decades. Dr Liu Thai Ker, regarded by China's media as the Father of Singapore City Planning, once said in an interview with a Hong Kong reporter, the huge secret to Singapore's urban planning was using the Western chessboard concept.
"On the Western chessboard, you have black squares and white squares; the black squares would be high-rise housing or offices; the white squares would be parks, squares, not-too-tall neighbourhood centres, schools and so on. So the feeling would not be too oppressive, and you can often see the sky."
There is profound Feng Shui knowledge in the words above, that comprises the knowledge of Yin and Yang, the delicate equilibrium between the Five Elements, and the importance of human interaction with Mother Nature. If these basics are neglected, and you only put emphasis on placing "auspicious" ornaments at home, this is nowhere near competent Feng Shui.
Singapore owes its success to namely good planning, foresight and boldness.
Without planning, no success can sustain forever on foresight and guts.
I have travelled to 47 cities all over the world, and Singapore has a very stable energy field, which is rare in many countries. We should all cherish this good Feng Shui component. With this as a foundation, when you can plan your home environment well, utilise every space well, let the right person do the right thing in the right space, there is no need for you to suffer so much.
If you can emulate Singapore's recipe to prosperity in the planning of your own life, you can also achieve your desired success and happiness in the shortest time possible.
When the mind is jammed, the home Feng Shui will also experience "traffic congestion". Decluttering means that you are beginning to accept the inflow of good luck.
But external Feng Shui is always a reflection of your mind. To embrace good Feng Shui forever, you have to start spring cleaning your heart from attachments too.
If you have no idea how to start, you are welcome to send me inquires about my services. Let me help you open up the path for you to receive happiness and wealth.

Bye 2015
Hi 2016
Everyone, everything will be good.
P.s. Typed the song name wrongly... It should be "Calendar Girl"
FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/cathiinwong/
INSTAGRAM: https://instagram.com/cathinwong
--------------------
Lyrics:
Calendar Girl - Stars
If I am lost for a day; try to find me
But if I don't come back, then I won't look behind me
All of the things that I thought were so easy
Just got harder and harder each day
December is darkest and June is the light but this empty bedroom won't make anything right
While out on the landing a friend I forgot to send home
Who waits up for me all through the night
Calendar girl who's in love with the world Stay alive
Calendar Girl who's in love with the world Stay alive
I dreamed I was dying; as I so often do
And when I awoke I was sure it was true
I ran to the window; threw my head to the sky
And said whoever is up there, please don't let me die
But I can't live forever,I can't always be
One day I'll be sand on a beach by a sea
The pages keep turning, I'll mark off each day with a cross
And I'll laugh about all that we've lost
Calendar Girl who is lost to the world
Stay Alive
Calendar Girl who is lost to the world Stay Alive
January, February, March, April, May I'm alive
June, July, August, September,October I'm alive
November, December, you all through the winter, I'm alive
I'm alive
