United Nations
..........
"You'll either come out a cream, or a criminal" Said a man who now works as an Oceanic Expert, giving advice to the Fijian government, representing them at the United Nations.
Life is never meant to be easy, and sometimes, rough upbringing can make you question your purpose in this world.
Growing up without his parents, Semisi endured his rough childhood and worked his way up. He was offered 3 scholarship options around the world, but he chose New Zealand. 2009 was where we met, studying the same International Relations papers.
Back then we had no idea what the future would bring. Semisi's rugby team won NZ national college rugby championship and he was always good at sports. Who would have thought he will one day travel the world with a diplomatic passport, representing his country and raising awareness on global warming. A direct threat that concerns his homeland's future.
As with anything good in life, most of the time we have to pay for it. Semisi sacrificed his chance to be with his family, with his son.
Leaving his son behind was not easy. But his career at the UN may give him a chance to be able to afford his son's education, ensuring that he has a good future ahead. So he took a shot.
A few years later, he now represents his country at the 2017 UNESCAP in Bangkok. We finally reunited.
The lesson of the day is that once you've found a purpose for your life, you will do anything you can to get where your life where it need to be. Become a father. Become a provider. The list goes on.
Along the way, it is little things we decide to do with our lives that will help point us closer to our ultimate goal, little by little.
He stopped drinking just to stay away from the wrong crowd that might distract him.
We learned that struggle and pain can shape us, make us stronger, or bring us down. But we can always refuse to give up.
Like he said "From the bottom, and here we are, rising to the top."
Cheers, my friend!

Information on the H1B visa for the United States (from François Dereeper)
"Hi,
so I’ve had a bunch of question asked about the H1B since the post of Yigit Keskin.
So let me write a little something about the H1B VISA for the USA.
If you want real informations go on the USCIS web site (http://www.uscis.gov). I did it myself and that’s where I got all the informations I needed.
What you should do is download the form M-735 to help you fill the form I-129. Most of the informations you need are written on the form M-735. You won’t have to fill in every pages of the I-129.
You will also need a LCA (Labor Condition Application) number. (https://icert.doleta.gov). I think that should be the first thing you do.
It was a long and pretty stressful process, the first time I sent the form they sent it back cause I forgot a few things so fill and send everything as soon as you can !
You’ll need a copy of all your diploma and also all the grades you got to get the diploma. I’m french so I also had to pay a certified company to translate all my documents.
There are a few documents that your employer has to give also, so you need to make sure your employer wants you and is willing to help.
And of course you’ll need money… I paid something like $4000. If you take a lawyer, it will cost you $2000 more but it will be faster, and you’ll have more chance to have the VISA cause the lawyer will tell you what you forgot.
I hope that can help some of you. I don’t have all the answers but i guess that’s a start
Good luck !"
I'm hoping this list will stop (or at least dramatically reduce) the number of people asking exactly the same question over again.
Also, can I ask people to do a search in this group to see if the information you are after has been asked before? There is a magnifying glass towards the bottom right-hand corner of the image at the top of the page; click on this, and type in your keywords.
If anyone can suggest any other sites to add, then please contact me by Private Message.

Here’s something fun to do on a hot summer’s day in New Zealand: grab a boogie board and head 50 kilometres northwest of Gisborne to the Rere Rockslide. This natural attraction will get you rushing past the watery slopes as you splash into a huge pool. Enjoy the fun-filled slide down the bottom, and make sure to check out Rere Falls while you’re there. https://theculturetrip.com/pacific/new-zealand/articles/the-10-best-things-to-do-in-gisborne-new-zealand/
The Onsen Hot Pools are located near Queenstown in New Zealand and offer secret views across the Shotover River canyon. The rustic cliffside retreat is a great destination all year round: It’ll warm you up in winter, cool you down in the summer, and cosily shield those visiting on a rainy day. https://theculturetrip.com/pacific/new-zealand/articles/the-best-spas-and-wellness-retreats-in-queenstown-new-zealand/
New Zealand’s native glow worm species, the Arachnocampa luminosa, are found deep within the country’s limestone caverns, where they spin their silk nets and lower themselves to capture their unsuspecting prey. Like our little glowing friends? The country is home to some amazing places to see glow worms, such as the Waitomo Caves. https://theculturetrip.com/pacific/new-zealand/articles/9-places-to-see-glow-worms-in-new-zealand/

Hawaii Travel Highlights
In late January, I flew to Honolulu to embark on a week long holiday with my closest friends from university. A lot of us flew in from Philippines, California, Texas and New Zealand. Hawaii is such a wonderful place to visit. A week was short but we packed it with a lot of hiking, beaching and trying out the local culture. In this video, you'll see our adventures from Bellow's beach, Haiku stairs, Diamond Head hike, Giovanni's food truck, surfing, Matsumoto shave ice and lastly, The Big Island which you will see in the next video.
