Pun Choy 盆菜, loosely translated as basin food is a cultural heritage food in HK. My family love it for its auspicious meaning of 盆满钵满 and the presentation looks like a treasure pot. Mum layered the bottom of the casserole with Chinese cabbage, followed by braised pork trotter, roasted pork, one whole chicken, fish maw, pork leg tendon, dried oysters, garoupa fish and topped with prawns, scallops, abalone, braised mushroom, Fatt Choy, broccoli and sea cucumber. Too much food for 7 pax but we tried our best to finish the first few layers.

This must be the cutest nian gao aka rice cake ever. Made with glutinous rice flour, this Chinese New Year goodie has an auspicious meaning of good luck and increasing prosperity for the year ahead. So if you want higher income, better career prospect and a great year ahead, it is believed that you should have some rice cake.
Besides this Golden Pig-shaped Nian Gao ($38.80), there are also the Prosperity Salmon Yu Sheng with Crispy Whitebait and Nashi Pear and other delights such as the Taro and Radish Cake with Preserved Meat Nian Gao, as well as the signature Blossoming Abalone Treasure Pot available on @marinamandarinsg Takeaway menu from now to 19 Feb.
