=================================
1) Either way(どちらにしても〜だ)
=================================
「どっちでもいいよ」は“I’m fine either way. ”、「どちらにせよ、それは重要ではない」は“Either way, it’s not important. ちなみに、今日の会話で使われた“It could go either way.”
<例文>
I’m fine either way. I don’t have a preference.
Either way, it’s expensive. Let’s just fly there.
I have no idea who’s going to win tonight. It could go either way.
=================================
2) Much the same(ほぼ同じ)
=================================
「私もほぼ同じです」は“I’m much the same.”といいますが、ネイティブはよく“I’m pretty much the same.” ちなみに、「全く同じである」はvery much the sameと言います。
<例文>
I’m much the same. I hardly ever eat fast food.
My schedule is pretty much the same as yours.
We have very much the same personality.
=================================
3) Nothing like(〜とは全然違う)
=================================
例えば、「発音が全然違うよ」は“It sounds nothing like that.”、「彼は全然私に似ていません」は“He looks nothing like me.” ちなみに、“There is nothing like ____.” 日常会話では、there isを省いて“Nothing like ____.”
<例文>
You look nothing like your older brother. Are you guys really siblings?
Tokyo is nothing like LA. It’s a completely different kind of vibe out there.
Nothing like an ice cold beer on a hot summer day.
=================================
4) Pretentious(気取った)
=================================
<例文>
Don’t say things like that. It makes you sound pretentious.
I thought he came off a bit pretentious.
I don’t mean to sound pretentious, but the proper pronunciation is karaoke.
=================================
5) Force(強制する)
=================================
<例文>
My boss forced me to work last weekend. I didn’t even get paid for it.
Don’t force the drawer open. You’re going to break it.
I was full, but I forced myself to eat everything.

https://youtu.be/VexrmTacOAA
I would like to see a great deal more CAUTION, a more SELECTIVE EXERCISE of your enormous range of weapons you’ve got, and more BRAINS AND FEET — preferably Vietnamese brains and feet — rather than more power and GADGETRY.
•Brains and feet, rather than gadgetry — 這邊也很巧妙,把當地的人,用 brains and feet 來代表,更能強調他們的長處,比 “local people” 更能夠有說服力。
I would like…
… to see a great deal more caution…
… a more selective exercise of…
your…
enormous range of weapons you’ve got, and uh…
more brains and feet…
You MUST demonstrate, and which…
I’ve really come here to understand better…
is whether YOU…
as a PEOPLE…
have got that resolution
that stamina, that perseverance, AND…
most important of all…
infinite patience, AND…
the capacity to hold back…
your desire to settle this quickly and get it over with, because this is a very different kind of war…
The other side is not in uniform. You are.
★★★★★★★★★★★★
📌 Speaking the Audience’s Language
如果他說的是 highly-educated English,西方聽眾會比較覺得 ah he’s on our level!
I am not given to making sense out of life — or coming up with some grand narrative on it — other than to measure it by what you think you want to do in life.
他不是寫 “I don’t try to make sense of life”,而是 “I am not given to making sense out of life”。
https://youtu.be/bGMKiv8-bzM
I hope to tell you what merger means, why it’s good for all of us, why it’s coming, and why some people are deliberately creating trouble and difficulty…
Presentality! Learn from their experience and expertise!
★★★★★★★★★★★★
It’s not just about speaking. It’s about speaking to achieve your goals.

How long does it take to reach C1 (advanced) in a language you're learning? 💭
🤔Someone asked this on Twitter today and it got me thinking. I wonder why questions like these are so common. It's good to have a broad understanding of how long it might take, but there are way too many factors at play, making it impossible to have a single answer to this question.
📚If you're fluent in Dutch and learning Afrikaans, it might take you a few months or years, depending on the time you put in to learn and practice, to become fluent. The two languages are that similar.
🤠But if you're a native French speaker learning Korean, for instance, the two languages are very different in terms of grammar, pronunciation, sentence structure and even writing system. It would require hours and hours more effort than the above example.
🗻In another instance, 2 native English speakers could both start learning Japanese. Person A spends hours weekly studying, getting speaking practice in, listening and getting immersion down, and works hard. They could reach N3 (intermediate) level in a year and a half if they put in a ton of effort and if Japanese is all they focus on. Person B might even live in Japan, but if they don't put in the work and just rely on some weekly classes and barely do their homework, they might never even reach N5 (beginner) despite living in Japan. 🤔
As you can see, it's really impossible to ask these questions and have a cookie-cutter answer for each person and each language. Let's rather put time in to be immersed in languages rather than get stressed about how long the process might take. What do you all think? 💖🥳

My dad said that if you eat leek, you will be very good at math. In Mandarin, leek is 蒜(Suan) which has the same pronunciation as 算 (suan)(calculate or count) in English. So it has an auspicious meaning of counting money, which literally means fortune. But my math hasn’t improved since last time
Ingredients:
1 or 2 stalks Chinese leek
2-3 Chinese sausage
2 tbsp oil 油
1 tbsp soy sauce 生抽
1 tsp salt 盐
Sprinkle of water 水少许

For the first time I made a role-play video of a hair salon all in English 💇♀️
I practiced pronunciation many times before filming, but after all it is very difficult to pronounce and move my mouth, which I usually do not do in Japanese😂
I'm always frustrated that I can't speak English well and can't communicate 😭 But, my channel has many overseas viewers, so I tried role-playing videos in English so that everyone could enjoy it🥺💓
If there is a part that is difficult to hear, I would like you to turn on English subtitles 🌙
If this movie is popular, I want to make it again ✨

Wesley: good style. Nice change ups and really good cadence. Also very strong stage presence, although his outfit looks kind of college nerdy but it works for him. Needs to change up his style so that he stands out more. The dancing needs more work, feels like he’s trying to hard and some shots but that’s OK because they’re college kids.
羅福公:really good. Strong stage presence and strong emoting. Excellent incorporation of Japanese, Chinese, and English. Although, some of the English pronunciation was way off even in the name of trying to make things rhyme. Aside from that his style is cool and not much to really improve. Dresses like a deep-sea fisherman from the movie life aquatic with Steve Zissou
Third guy: technically really decent rapper. Although the drunken/lazy Mumble rap tongue rhyme scheme has been done better by 蛋頭. Really liked the HAM part towards the end, but the incorrect incorporation of hip-hop lingo and lines from other popular American rap songs(Migos) was a bit off putting. Also most of the English is mispronounced.
Gfate: I didn’t get what you were trying to do at all. Are you rapping? Ranting? Mumbling? Nice voice tho.
Fifth Guy: Really dig his swag. His voice is deep and smooth. LIke the elongation style and his rhyming style just sways. Rapping style is very musical. Sounds like an instrument. Very confident and natural in front of the camera.
Kerrita: Nice singing voice but sometimes out of tune. Usage of pitch correction is pretty obvious. The English took me out. Also her jazz singing style doesn’t really match the song. Too much vibrato and execution of syncopation wasn’t precise. However, the rap was really good. I’d like to hear her rap more. Score: 3.0
As a Group: If you’re going to rep your school/present yourself as a crew, then you need to have some overall theme(dress, swag, etc) that presents you as a team. This video feels like random people came together for one project, but they don’t really know each other or have chemistry. Find something that makes your school/group unique and exploit it.
