The name of this beautiful picturesque place is Port Hope. I instantly fell in love with this little town just hearing its name.
But hold on! Don’t raise your HOPE high HOPING that there is any sweet story behind the naming of this place. The township was actually named to honour Colonel Henry Hope, former lieutenant-governor of Quebec. 🙈
Port Hope's main street is one of the best preserved place from late 19th-century Ontario.
This place is perfect for a day trip, or even a half day trip. If you are planning to explore nearby places from Toronto, arrange a picnic basket and go to enjoy some of the HOPE! 😃
One bonus “do you know” facts for you guys! From 1817-19 Port Hope was known as Toronto but the citizens then decided on the name Port Hope. Now I am curious why they named it Toronto only just for two years and then shifted to the previous name. Does anybody know? 🤔
