14 American authors will be featured in AIT’s “America’s Literary Landscape” exhibition that will open next week. Few writers lived as colorfully as Ernest Hemingway, whose career could have come out of one his adventurous novels. He volunteered for an ambulance unit in France during World War I. He was a war correspondent in Paris. (To read more on Hemingway on War and Its Aftermath, click: https://goo.gl/p0fAOT ) Hemingway was a journalist, covering the Spanish Civil War, World War II, and the fighting in China in the 1940s. On a safari in Africa, he was injured when his small plane crashed; still, he continued to enjoy hunting and sport fishing, activities that inspired some of his best work, such as The Old Man and the Sea (1952).
