Take it out on Hong Kong! |Lee Yee
The rash chap was wronged out there, and went home to beat up his wife and son. Ah Q muttered an insult to the fake foreigner, who beat him up with a mourning stick. Ah Q dared not argue, turned around and provoked Whiskers Wang, whom he despises, and the weak and lowly Young D. Except Whiskers Wang and Young D beat Ah Q, what a slap in the face! Therefore he pinched the young nun in the cheeks to vent.
The US has launched a series of blows against China in the ultra-cold war, with the latest development being the announcement that US Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar will visit Taiwan. Although there are precedents for the US cabinet members to visit Taiwan, it is now during a pandemic, with the particular highlights of this sensitive period being: that Taiwan has been rejected by the World Health Organization (WHO), that the WHO has joined forces with China, and that the US has withdrawn from the WHO and is preparing to form a new health alliance. In addition, it is rumored that Sun Lijun, the deputy minister of the Ministry of Public Security, who was investigated in April this year, was dismissed for leaking information about the Wuhan epidemic from laboratories. The relevant information has fallen into the hands of Australia and the US, which may trigger a global accountability operation.
As the US and Taiwan get closer, they repeated inch towards the bottom line of China’s tolerance. The next step could be the stationing of US troops in Taiwan, which could even lead to the establishment of diplomatic relations with Taiwan that might not be that surprising.
On the other hand, the US gave up unilateral diplomacy, and Pompeo called on the free world to unite to resist China, a declaration that was welcomed by many countries thanks to the Hong Kong national security law. Britain proposed to form the D-10, a group that is consisted of the Five Eyes, plus Japan, India, South Korea, France, and Germany, with the possibility of ASEAN countries to follow. The latest development is that in Switzerland, which has always maintained a neutral attitude in international affairs and has never been involved in international wars since 1815, Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis told the media on Aug 2 that Hong Kong’s national security law endangers Hong Kong Swiss enterprises, and if the CCP insists on pursuing it, Western countries will respond more resolutely.
As everyone knows, Swiss banks are famous for their measures against leaking depositors’ information, and therefore money from laundering is often stored in Swiss banks. Last year, Jia Kang, an economist and former director of the Finance Department of the Chinese Ministry of Finance, forwarded the news published by Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS) that about 100 Chinese people had deposits of 7.8 trillion yuan, which equals to 1 trillion USD in UBS. The average deposit per person is more than 10 billion USD.
The Swiss Foreign Minister said that Hong Kong’s national security law “endangers Swiss enterprises in Hong Kong”, alluding to the next steps which could well be divestitures. Minus Hong Kong, corrupt Chinese officials have one fewer, and the most convenient, place to hide their money.
Faced with the increasing pressure from the US and Western countries, China’s response has been relatively mild. Except for the babbling from the Ministry of Foreign Arguments, none from the top tier spoke out, and the media reiterated that they would remain “open to the outside world”.
A month ago, Global Times editor-in-chief Hu Xijin posted that China needed to increase the number of nuclear warheads to more than a thousand; a week ago, Old Hu once again proclaimed, “Hurry up and build more nuclear missiles to deter the American lunatics, turn on the steam”. These Weibo posts have hundreds of thousands of likes. However, on Jul 31, Yang Chengjun, high-level military, and nuclear arms control expert, issued a document that slammed, without naming names, Hu’s remarks as “having the foremost purpose of inciting dissatisfaction with the Central government, the Military Commission, and the military”, that it was heinous and “a lie that is extremely detrimental to national security”.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said in an interview with Xinhua News Agency that, “We can restart dialogues with all levels and fields with the US any moment. Any issue can be brought to the table for discussion”, “refuse to decouple, maintain cooperation; resist zero-sum, share responsibility”.
Not daring to play hardball with the US? Take it out on Hong Kong. Therefore, the policy towards Hong Kong is only going to become increasingly outrageous. Hongkongers must prepare for the worst.
Lu Xun said, “An angry hero brandishes his sword to challenge the mighty; an angry coward turns his sword to bully the vulnerable”. The next two lines that follow are, “In a hopeless nation, there will be many heroes glaring only at the children. Those wussies!” Wussy [pinyin: can tou]," means a bully who preys on the weak in the Chinese northern dialect.
If the wussies think that little Hong Kong is good to bully, then what has last year’s anti-ELAB movement do to the political, economic, internal, and external environment in the CCP? Winston Churchill said, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”

Possessed by Auntie Hua |Lee Yee
“I have always possessed the worst malice when speculating about the Chinese people,” said Lu Xun. It has almost been a century since Lu Xun said this. Is it still the case, or is it even worse? The modern version needs no more “speculations” that there have been too much evidence and universally applicable inferences.
Carrie Lam talked about the sanctions from the US and reiterated that she has no assets in the US. She said, “I am not eager to go to the US, and I just laugh it off and snort with contempt at the so-called sanctions against myself as they are neither reasonable nor logical.”
Those who truly love the country and the party should put aside personal interest considerations, even if they have assets in the US, even if they yearn for the US, they must do what they should do for the interests of the party-state. As such, why do some who have assets in the US or yearn for the US not able to laugh it off, but instead put their personal interests above the implementation of the CCP’s will? Or should they be prepared for sanctions as soon as possible?
"Snort with contempt"? Such scorn towards the US sanctions. But what if not only the US, but also the UK joins the sanctions? A few days ago, in "A Laowai’s [foreigner's] view of China" video, Alicia Kearns, a member of the Parliament of the UK and a member of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee, talked about her views on the Hong Kong version of the National Security Law and the sanctions against Carrie Lam and other officials. She said, "I really hope we can see the sanctions against the CCP, they are the group of people who have committed the most appalling human rights violations in the world." When Carrie Lam was asked two days ago whether her family members hold British passports, she said that her family members are those who need her protection the most. Therefore she refused to discuss anything about them. Why can’t she “snort with contempt” at the possible sanctions by the UK?
Carrie Lam said that whether it is the National Security Law or the postponement of the elections, the decisions were "based on the interests of the Hong Kong people": "I don't understand at all. Why will a local leader carry out local duties within her country be sanctioned by foreign governments? I really don’t know the grounds and the logic behind this.”
Many countries have already repeated clearly the reasons behind but being the Chief Executive of Hong Kong, she still does not understand. Has she been possessed by Auntie Hua [Chinese Auntie]? Other reasons aside, just take how various countries have now suspended their extradition agreements with Hong Kong. When these agreements were signed, Hong Kong law clearly stated that the arrangement for the surrender of fugitive offenders is not applicable to "any other part of the People’s Republic of China". This means the offenders in Hong Kong will not be extradited to any other part of China, but the Hong Kong version of the National Security Law changed everything. Article 56 states that criminals who violate the National Security Law can be investigated by the Office for Safeguarding National Security of the CPG in the HKSAR and the Supreme People’s Procuratorate can exercise the prosecutorial power, while the Supreme People’s Court can exercise the judicial power. The situation is now different from when the agreements were signed, so it is reasonable to terminate the agreement when no choices are left. However, there are two kinds of logic in the world, one is logic and the other one is the Chinese logic. What Carrie Lam follows is Chinese logic.
In response to the Western sanctions against her, Carrie Lam claimed that "justice lies in the hearts of the people". She also said that the postponement of the LegCo election was primarily for the health of the public, without political considerations, and not from the fear of losing the election. She believed that the foundation of public opinion for the postponement of the election was solid. Praise the Lord if she hadn't mentioned the public opinion, because even God would even laugh at the absurdity. According to the latest public opinion survey published on July 28, Carrie Lam’s approval rate was only 18%, the disapproval rate was 72%, and the net rating was negative 54%, which was a record low. With such a rating, she is able to talk about "the hearts of the people" and "foundation of the public opinion " with no embarrassment and without blushing!
Earlier, there have been rumors from the leaders of the pro-Beijing camp, and coupled with the high voter turnout rate from the pro-democracy primaries, only mentally-challenged would believe Carrie Lam that the postponement of the election for one year is for the sake of the health of the people. There is a saying in the British TV series "Yes Minister": "Never believe anything until it has been officially denied." Now Carrie Lam denied both political considerations and the fear of losing - something the people can finally believe to be true.
Carrie Lam’s big moves in the consecutive days and her Auntie Hua style rhetoric have made Hong Kong citizens understand more reversely what the “Special Atrocious region government” has done: Why are only Xinjiang and Hong Kong the two places in China with the epidemic outbreaks? Borders are not closed so to introduce the Chinese laboratories, and build the Fangcang hospital. During the period from February to May, more than 200,000 people were exempted from quarantine, bringing new levels of severity to the epidemic, and therefore the election is postponed for one year due to the epidemic. Are these all scripted? Some netizens reminded that in 2015, Xinjiang Uyghurs randomly assaulted 13 people brutally at Guangzhou train station. In the same year, Xinjiang's "re-education camps" surfaced.
Hong Kong has accelerated towards one system. According to Lu Xun, there's never "the worst" and only “worsening”.

“Give U My Heart”
“Give U My Heart” is Tor Saksit’s new single, due for release by Sony Music China on June 29th. This song has more of an acoustic vibe than previous singles and lyrically, compares the love between two people, to a phenomenon that happens in real life, which needs no explanation to understand.
Stepping away from his trademark image , Tor leaves his grand piano behind and turns instead, to a Fender Rhodes, an iconic electric piano that was hugely popular in the 70’s. Acoustic guitar also plays an important role in this song. Tor wrote the song and sings the chorus and harmony lines himself.
This song originated from the Thai song “ปรากฏการณ์ (Pra Kod Kan)” , featured on his current album “Chapter I”.

"The Charm of Mountain Langya", composed by Yu Xun-fa
Inspired by the literature, The Charm of Mountain Langya simulates Ouyang’s work. The Charm of Mountain Langya comprises of six passages that are mainly derived from Zuiweng Tingji (An Account of the Old Toper's Pavilion), a well-known semi-autobiographical poem by Ouyang Xiu. Originally appointed as a political minister, Ouyang was then demoted to to Western Hubei because of his support for Fan Zhongyan, the then prefect of Kaifeng who criticised the Chief Councillor and proposed political reforms. Ouyang therefore wrote Zuiweng Tingji to depict the beautiful scenery, narrate a series of events and, more importantly, to express his mixed sentiments.
A rare sound combination of di and vocal is featured in this concert, with reference to Yu’s performance in 1998.
