To my daughter Fatimah,
It’s hard to believe you will be 7 years old today. I don’t want you to grow up. I want you to be my little princess forever. The day you were born seems like yesterday. I cried again like a baby. You were beautiful and innocent. I remember holding you for the first time, your eyes were looking at me full of love and I was looking at your mother’s eyes falling deeper in love with her.
Your mother and I have been waiting for this moment for 7 years and we knew we were lucky and blessed. We prayed for you everyday for 9 months and we haven’t stopped since. And my dream came true, I became a father again, this time to a little girl!! What more can I ask. Because of you, I loved your mother 10 times more than what I thought was possible. I can’t thank her enough for what she’s been through, carrying you for 9 months and delivering you to this world.
I learned more about fatherhood when we had you. You taught me time is the most important thing and being present when you first explored the world was the most precious joy of being a father. Those first weeks with you at home were challenging but exciting. Being a father to a little baby again wasn’t easy.
Seeing you develop and grow in front of me made me proud. I was there when you cried because you were scared of the dark, hearing your first laugh, watching your first step, losing your first tooth, and I won’t forget our first cooking video together - “jeput pisey”. I was proud of all your achievements in school, the good manners and your way with your siblings. When your Mamajee passed, you were at your lowest, and I was there to soothe your tears. My heart burst with pride when you came back stronger from these moments.
So, happy birthday my sweetheart Fatimah. May Allah bless you and protect you from the evil eye. Know this, from the bottom of my heart, I love you!! ♥️ I would climb and shout this from the mountain top near our home, but I’m afraid of heights, “gayat gitu”.
Luv,
Mr Dad

I am writing this while floating over the moon, cos earlier tonight was Fatimah’s parents’ meeting. Obviously, due to the coronavirus, we couldn’t have a face-to-face parents’ meeting this time, but instead, it was done virtually. I will try to write down each and every word of Fatimah’s teacher so I can share about your little sweetheart with all of you!
To begin with, her teacher said that when she was driving home from school, she was struggling to find something to tell us parents about what this hard-working little girl should do to improve. According to her teacher, Fatimah is such a joy to have in her class, a girl with impeccable manners, and she wished that she could have 30 Fatimahs in her class every year!
MashaAllah, that was only the introduction and I couldn’t hold back my tears of joy. You can’t imagine how proud I am as a mother to hear such words about my daughter from her teacher. Forget her progress, but to hear that your child is highly mannered and is loved by her teachers and friends is more than enough - I couldn’t have asked for more.
Fatimah's teacher couldn’t stop singing songs of praise about her. She then surprised us with more good news. Fatimah was recently appointed Writing Wizard. She was selected based on her natural talent in writing and passion for sharing her knowledge with others. So, Fatimah will be properly trained to be a ‘Tiny Teacher’ so that she can continue to help her peers improve their writing skills.
Her teacher concluded the session by congratulating us parents for all our hard work put into raising our little girl. But at this point, both Mr Dad and I agreed at the same time that it wasn’t us!
We have always believed that the teachers bring the best out of their students. And for that, we are the ones who should be thanking the teachers for all their hard work to get Fatimah where she is now. Without their guidance, support and love, Fatimah wouldn’t have achieved what she has. And most importantly, the teachers have successfully made school such an enjoyable second home where she is loved and appreciated!
I don’t know how many times I thanked Fatimah’s teacher because for me, she deserves the credit! And above all, I must thank Allah for all the blessings He has showered upon us. And not forgotten, each and every one of you who is reading this, who has been supporting Fatimah endlessly, loving her unconditionally and keeping her in your prayers, I thank you all - may God reward all of you abundantly…💖
Blessed,
Mrs Mom - a mother blessed with 3 amazing children...sharing parenthood experience!

My first half of the autumn term has come to an end and the holidays have begun. Alhamdulillah, all the results for my half term assessments were excellent - beyond my expectations! I am really pleased to be blessed by the Almighty with the endless opportunities to make my parents proud. Both Mr Dad and Mrs Mom have never forced me or put expectations on me. They are always happy with whatever achievement I get.
Since I was in primary school, whenever my parents attended a parent-teacher meeting to hear about my progress, the first thing they would ask is, how are my manners towards the teachers? How are my manners towards the other students at school? Am I being kind towards other people? And they would also ask to see whether or not I was happy at school. They clearly said that they were happy with whatever results I got, as long as I was respectful and enjoyed school. They never failed to remind me that although education is important, without manners, you are nothing!
Whenever I get my results, they ask me whether or not I’m happy with them. For them, if I’m happy, then they’re more than happy! The most important thing for them is my happiness. And it’s the same for me: the most important thing for me is my parents’ happiness. I’m happy to see them proud. I’m happy to see the smiles on their faces. And I’m happy to see that sparkle in their eyes - priceless!
This is why I always tell myself to work hard - my parents are my motivation! Although they have never forced me or pressured me with their expectations, they are the ones who drive me to try my hardest and reach for the stars. Seeing their proud faces makes all that hard work pay off, and I’m glad not just because of the good grades I brought home on that piece of paper, but to have brilliant parents who are there to both support me every step of the way and celebrate my success! May the Almighty reserve both Mr Dad and Mrs Mom the highest place in Jannatul Firdaus…Aameen ♥️
Blessed,
Omar Mukhtar
