輸在玩家錯配

最近見了很多親戚朋友表哥表姐，有不少都剛懷孕或是剛生小孩。「贏在起跑線」是一個差不多一定會涉獵的話題。加上最近SJ的一篇文章以及Business Insider的一篇關於Jessica Pointing的報道(連結在本文末），我也想分享一下這個老掉了牙的話題。

一眾新世代父母被標籤怪獸，群眾無形的人有我有壓力，再加上傳媒大事喧染（歸咎近年仇港情緒嚴重），什至有政府廣告宣傳小朋友要多玩樂；這一切令香港這個問題好像搞得很嚴重似的。TSA或學能測驗被妖魔化，令香港的小朋友好像在地獄出生一樣。其實這個不只是香港的問題。隨著globalization，英美加大學被歐亞尖子攻占淹沒，英美加家長現在也有不少摒棄所謂的自由教育，變臉成為虎爸虎媽。其實這也很難怪，也是為世所逼。在資本社會中，競爭是必然的，世世代代也有。這只不過是新世代的全新遊戲規則，競爭的舞台不再是本地而是無薑無際，玩得這個遊戲，要贏，就要清楚明白及遵守遊戲規則。

小弟未有小孩，我未能明白家長的心態，現在的言論也未能作準。依小弟愚見，我覺得眼下的問題主要有兩個：

1. 什麼是「贏」和什麼是「起跑線」
2. 這個遊戲究竟真正的玩家是誰

第一點其實很難答也是很主觀。有人有車有樓月入十萬就是贏，但有人賺到之後，要上二十萬三十萬，上了車要搬去九龍塘之後又要搬去西半山，有了車又要上開Benz又羨慕人家開林寶堅尼-- 什麼是贏，一切因人而異。所謂的財務自由，其實首先要知足。

至於起跑線，什麼「沒有起跑線」，請不要自欺欺人：父母自身的成功，各人出身的階層，一定會對每個人的成功有不可或缺關連，但重要性未必如那些育嬰班廣告一樣嚴重。現在家長做的是work backwards。因為想子女找到份好工，所以要入到好大學，因而要入好中學、小學、幼稚園、Nursery、Pre-nursery，什至playgroup。這是一個合理的做法，但也是一個非常容易弄巧反拙的做法。其中一個反噬點就是因為過份催谷令小朋友反感令這個work backwards的方法失效。

第二點才是我覺得最重要：這個遊戲究竟真正的玩家是誰。

「贏在起跑線」這是現實不是問題。但現今眼下的問題在於玩家錯配。嬰兒年紀尚小，在未有自主意識之前，父母故然在安排方面扮演一個非常重要的角色。但是父母並不是也更加不應該是這個人生遊戲的玩家。隨着年紀漸長，父母可以干涉的越來越少，成功與否應該取決於遊戲的主角。一來人生的贏輸沒有準則，也不應該有一把尺，誰勝誰負應該由主人公自行決定；二來我認為真正的起跑線並不是在射精前（有這種思想的家長交歡時懇請戴上安全套），而是的主人公在自主決定開始奮力起步的那一秒。

家長們用盡心思財力資源去嘗試構造一個自以爲完美的成長環境給子女，但過分催谷及極度安排換來的只是親子關係的破壞及缺乏自主權的發展空間。一輩子讀書找工作全部也覺得很被迫很被動。他們不覺得那人生是自己的，他們甚至覺得自己只不過是父母的一隻棋子。

這些逼出來的成功往往很有限，因為大部份人的資質相約，催谷的方式非常接近，最後結果就是成了大眾。我一直認同拔尖而不是保底，我相信每一個人也有自己的長處和強項，要成功不應是努力去嘗試變成十項全能（因為這個世界天才根本很少），而是應該抓緊重點努力培訓。所謂成功不是要一百分，而是要比參加比賽的對手高一分就夠。與其瘋狂訓練希望成為大眾的冠軍（成功率十分之低），不如找另一個主場成為冠軍。

我相信Jessica Pointing是自己安排她的Harvard+MIT雙學位，他的父母也應該沒有逼她讀finance而非physics，更沒有安排她做volunteering或intern什至幫她改resume，一切大概是因為她在某個階段明白到自己的目標，自己設計一個work backwards的奮鬥方式而得到自己神人一樣的人生初段成功。

也正如SJ那一篇文章所提及的一些後勁不繼、讀書很神但出來社會工作時未必及一些所謂只懂吹水的中游學生成功-- 很多時候是因為讀書的時候會考或是高考受了一些挫折，明白了自己的強項弱項或真正人生目標後紮實地追趕失去了的光陰，找到自己的起跑線從而趕過以前的對手，贏得自己的人生。

那些所謂90、2000後的工作通病，絕大部份雇主投訴的不是technical的能力，而是缺乏競爭態度跟待人接物的反差。可以賴父母過分保護，但歸根究底也是因為他們沒有把自己當成玩家。只要他們把自己當成online game角色來看待，明白遊戲規則，他們定當竭盡所能打爆機。

所以與其盲目催谷學什麼什麼，倒不如盡快令他們明白人生是自己的。怎樣升level，自己的強項是什麼，怎樣跟別人競爭等等。自幼父母什麼也不安排，提倡完全自由學習讓小孩自己成長，本人覺得是不切實際的。小朋友牙牙學語的時候沒有自主能力，父母的栽培十分左右大局，只要父母都明白到小孩的人生是他們自己的而不是父母的影子，我相信一切也許會健康一點。

許多人問我要怎麼援助尼泊爾，問我是否有信得過的當地組織可介紹。

在介紹這個組織之前，我想先介紹我的朋友、尼語老師──Hari Kumar Shrestha。跟他認識十幾年，當時他來台灣讀博士班，認識不久，只因有網友說想學尼泊爾文，他就很熱心地利用周末在台大學生餐廳教我們，完全不問學費，還是我覺得不好意思才一人收100，是的，才100，他不但要備課影印教材還要在學生餐廳消費，根本沒賺，但他不介意。

之後認識愈久，愈發現他就是這樣不計較的人。只要有人有什麼事，再遠再忙他都趕去；有志工要到尼泊爾服務請他在行前介紹尼泊爾教尼語，他也絲毫不推辭。這幾年回到尼泊爾後，他似乎更忙了：台灣人來尼泊爾，他極力幫忙甚至自掏腰包隨行還讓人住他家；尼泊爾人需要幫助，他更是義不容辭，參與了各個公益組織。我常常都想勸他「Hari，我很怕你餓死～有時也要顧自己的荷包好嗎？」

HEADS就是Hari所參與的公益組織之一，他們原本就是立意幫助農村的發展。地震之後，他們更關注這些偏鄉，此次受災嚴重、九成村落毀損的Gorkha、Sindhupalchowk地區，是他們最急迫要援助的地方。昨天，Hari從Gorkha回來，非常難過地說，政府根本沒幫助當地村民，大家沒地方住，甚至要跟牛隻一起窩在牛棚。

我一直想，雖然HEADS並不是大型國際NGO組織，也許也沒有什麼災後救援的經驗，但至少我相信Hari，相信他們長期關注農村偏鄉的努力，相信他們會知道村民們的需求。
.
消息指出，物資若以貨運方式寄送，容易被卡在機場海關，無法立刻提領發放；但若是旅客託運行李則會放行，所以我們以這樣的方式處理手邊已得的物資。正好透過臉書聯繫到一對台尼夫婦下週要回尼泊爾，他們願意加購託運行李幫忙帶一些當地極為需要卻又短缺的帳篷睡袋防水墊，又有另一位尼泊爾媳婦「尼太太」熱心地聯繫廠商，希望能用善款購入這些物資帶去（真的超出行李能帶的，就只好帶現金到當地購買囉～）。如果近期有人要前來尼泊爾，願意幫忙帶一些物資過去，也歡迎私訊給我（我會請朋友直接到機場跟你碰面領取物資，盡量不讓你麻煩）。

Appeal of HEADS Nepal

Nepal is considered as a disaster prone country. Therefore, floods, landslides, epidemics and fires cause considerable loss of life and property in every year. Earthquakes, on the other hands are not so frequent, but have the potential for causing the greatest damage due a seismic prone country. Therefore, the risk it faces from earthquakes is very high. Currently, an earthquake with the magnitude of 7.8 has stroke Nepal on April 25, 2015. The damaged around the country have claimed more than 4000 lives and impacted around 7,000 people with great financial and economic losses in 31 out of 75 districts in Nepal. The full extent of the disaster is slowly unfolding and going beyond imagination.

The Government of Nepal has started to support the earthquake affected districts, however, their supports are enough to the remote and rural areas of Nepal. According to the Kathmandu Post Daily published on April 27, 2015, the Prime Minister Shusil Koirala has also admitted that rescue; relief and search operations have not been effective and urge all the political parties to work in this crisis.

For providing some supports to the earthquake affected remote and rural areas, Health, Education, Agriculture and Development Society Nepal (HEADS Nepal) is planning to move its volunteers to Sindhupalchowk and Gorkha first, then other affected areas. We were thrilled to be adopting 2 rescue kittens from #CatWelfareSociety!
But as much as we read up articles online or watched videos about what to do and what not to do before the kittens arrived, we were still really shocked when it actually happened.
Our docile girls (1.5 years old) who've never misbehaved so much suddenly hissed and slapped like they were in a 'Cat From Hell' episode, and it left us questioning if we did anything wrong somewhere along the way.
We felt worried and scared for our furkids, but knew that we shouldn't interfere too much as it's the cats' way of setting the hierarchy in the house.
Thankfully there were no wounds nor bleeding etc, phew T~T
Turns out the hissing and slapping is pretty normal (for introduction of cats, especially intro-ing new cats/kittens to adult cats).... although I wouldn't want to go through it again LOL!
We're so super glad the worst is over now!
Looking forward to the second week of them getting along ^~^
