【作文高分要點】花了好多時間整理，有意寫好英文作文的學員，要認真看哦！
作文題目如下：
維護校園安全是校園內每個成員的責任，請寫一篇英文作文，說明應該如何維護校園安全。文分兩段，第一段說明校園安全的重要性及校園內可能發生的安全問題；第二段說明身為校園的一份子，你覺得校內成員應該採取哪些作為以維護校園安全。
【作文高分要點】
在寫作文的時候請留意以下要點：
1) 字體力求工整
2) 內容必須契合題意
3) 文章發展要前後呼應
4) 組織層次務必分明
5) 用字要簡潔、精確
6) 表達需要流暢，一氣呵成
語句分析
提示第一句說：維護校園安全是校園每個成員的責任，這是作文的重點，因此，文章的開頭就要扣住這個重點。
第二至第四句闡述原因，從而說明校園安全的重要性。
第五句則是提述校園內可能發生的安全問題。
第一段文字方面需要注意的是：
(1) 第一句用了簡單句子(simple sentence)，因為要突顯這篇文章的重點，越簡潔越有力。
(2) 第二句用了複合句 (compound sentence)，這證明考生有能力駕馭較複雜的句構。e.g., given its role ... undue risks (高階片語盡可能拿出來使用)
(3) 第四句用了after all (畢竟) ，可強化前面所提及的想法及概念。
(4) 第五句用了 undermine (削弱 v.)，它常常跟 safety搭配一起。fire risks, thefts, harassment和assaults是配合主題的詞彙，亦可證明考生的詞彙量。
第二段直接回應提示的要求，即校內成員應該採取哪些作為以維護校園安全，重點是與校園安全有關的作為。
第二段文字方面需要注意的是：
(1) 第一句用了safeguard (維護)，To safeguard campus safety這個片語把兩段連貫在一起。
(2) 第二句和第三句給了例子。考生在寫作文時必須給例子，因為它們可以讓考官易於明白你所想表達的意思。
(3) 第四和第五句則是另一個作為：做好判斷。
第五句雖然沒有For example這個片語，但是它是給出了例子或是細節。
(4) 第六句是總結這篇文章的重點，要注意的是，避免逐字重複敘述重點，要拿高分的關鍵，得用另外的方式來表述。

首先看看 Wikipedia
Semicolons are followed by a lower case letter, unless that letter begins
a proper noun. They have no spaces before them, but one or two spaces after.
Applications of the semicolon in English include:
* Between closely related independent clauses not conjoined with a
co-ordinating conjunction:
★ "I went to the swimming pool; I was told it was closed for routine
maintenance."
★ "A man chooses; a slave obeys."
* Between independent clauses linked with a transitional phrase or a
conjunctive adverb:
★ "I like to eat cows; however, I don't like to be eaten by them."
* Between items in a series or listing containing internal punctuation,
especially parenthetic commas, where the semicolons function as serial
commas:
★ "She saw three men: Donald, who came from New Zealand; Jon, the
milkman's son; and George, a gaunt kind of man."
★ "Several fast food restaurants can be found in each of London,
England; Paris, France; Dublin, Ireland; and Madrid, Spain."
★ "Examples of familiar sequences are: one, two, and three; a, b,
and c; and first, second, and third."
分號後面跟著小寫字母，除非是特殊名詞。分號前面沒有空格，後面則有一或兩個空
格。英文中分號的用法如下：
* 兩個高度相關的獨立子句且沒有連接詞
★ "I went to the swimming pool; I was told it was closed for routine
maintenance."
★ "A man chooses; a slave obeys."
* 兩個用轉折詞或連接副詞連結的獨立子句
★ "I like to eat cows; however, I don't like to be eaten by them."
* 一連串的清單事物或其中有符號（尤其是插入型的逗號），此時分號用法如逗號。
★ "She saw three men: Donald, who came from New Zealand; Jon, the

Commas vs. Semicolons in Compound Sentences
A group of words containing a subject and a verb and expressing a complete
thought is called a sentence or an independent clause. Sometimes, an
independent clause stands alone as a sentence, and sometimes two independent
clauses are linked together into what is called a compound sentence.
Depending on the circumstances, one of two different punctuation marks can
be used between the independent clauses in a compound sentence: a comma or a
semicolon. The choice is yours.
Comma (,)
Use a comma after the first independent clause when you link two independent
clauses with one of the following coordinating conjunctions: and, but, for,
or, nor, so, yet. For example:
★ "I am going home, and I intend to stay there."
★ "It rained heavily during the afternoon, but we managed to have our
picnic anyway."
★ "They couldn't make it to the summit and back before dark, so they
decided to camp for the night."
Semicolon (;)
Use a semicolon when you link two independent clauses with no connecting
words. For example:
★ "I am going home; I intend to stay there."
★ "It rained heavily during the afternoon; we managed to have our
picnic anyway."
★ "They couldn't make it to the summit and back before dark; they
decided to camp for the night."
You can also use a semicolon when you join two independent clauses together
with one of the following conjunctive adverbs (adverbs that join independent
clauses): however, moreover, therefore, consequently, otherwise,
nevertheless, thus, etc. For example:
★ "I am going home; moreover, I intend to stay there."
★ "It rained heavily during the afternoon; however, we managed to
have our picnic anyway."
★ "They couldn't make it to the summit and back before dark;
therefore, they decided to camp for the night."

複合句中的逗號與分號

Examples of independent markers are the following: therefore, moreover, thus,
consequently, however, also.
Example: Doctors are concerned about the rising death rate from
asthma; therefore, they have called for more research into
its causes.
